Community Reacts to Daylight Saving Time

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — Time sprang forward Sunday for Daylight Saving Time, resulting in an hour less of sleep. This annual time change has been around for generations, and for some people, it still takes some time to adjust. According to Daylight Saving Time changes how much sunlight we get in a day. This change can mess with a person's sleep schedule, affecting how alert they are in the morning and how sleepy at night. While some despise Daylight Saving Time, others enjoy the long hours of daylight and use it to take advantage of the day. Rachel Moore, with the Waco McLennan County Library, enjoys it, 'I was a little bit more sleepy this morning,' Moore said, acknowledging how the time change impacted her body. 'But it's really nice because it's super sunny and beautiful today. And so, I feel like maybe we got a little lucky with the daylight saving.' Carolina Herrera also enjoys the extra hours of sun, however, her son does not, 'My son was a little sleepy this morning and didn't really want to wake up. But I think being out in the sunlight in the daytime really helps regulate his sleep schedule, too.' Herrera hopes that by bringing her son outside more while the sun is out, it will help him adjust to a different night schedule and get more sleep during the time change. According to setting a night routine, whether new or adjusted, can help younger children become more acquainted with Daylight Saving Time more quickly and easier. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
