Stylish canines strut stuff at the Greenwich dog show

The best-dressed pooches in Britain were on display at the Greenwich dog show in London. The annual dog show took place on Sunday (25.05.25) and saw hundreds of owners and their stylish canines travelling from all over the UK to be reviewed by a panel of expert judges. The event was open to "all dogs, big and small, well-behaved or wonderfully mischievous" and featured categories such as Waggiest Tail, Handsome Hound and Cutest Pup. There was also the new Best Bridgerton Lookalike category that paid homage to the Old Royal Naval College site that featured in the Netflix Regency drama. Tara Veitch's schnauzer Mr. Darbyshire won the best-dressed pooch competition as he donned a suit for the special event. As well as the doggy catwalk (or should that be dogwalk?), visitors tucked into gourmet treats and posed for photos under the iconic colonnades. The show, first launched in 2023, raises funds for the Greenwich Foundation to help preserve the historic site. With this year's turnout, organisers are already promising an even bigger bash in 2026.

Cute puppies help Greenacres and Border Collie Rescue

Cotton's Crèche at Bethesda near Narberth has held a dog show weekend every year of its existence, and this one was another huge success. With a variety of classes and even agility courses, there was a chance for every four-legged friend to shine, and more than £840 was raised to be shared between Pembrokeshire's Greenacres Rescue and the Border Collie Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. And it was appropriate that some heartwarming stories were highlighted during the show. The title of Loveliest Lady and second best in show went to little Roxy who had lost both her eyes – one from a dog attack and the other from glaucoma. 'She's 16 and still beautiful as ever,' said the owner of Cotton's Crèche, Annie Thomas. Meanwhile, Brenda the Cardigan Corgi claimed the award for Best Rescue Story. Annie added: 'Her white fur was all yellow and she was kept in a small cage and she was terrified, but she's finally coming around and growing her confidence.' The overall winner of Best in Show was another Roxy – this time, a Basset Hound who also scooped the agility award. Third place went to handsome Brodie, who won the Waggiest Tail category. Annie added: 'We just want to say the biggest thank you to everyone who came along to our ninth annual dog show weekend – what a day it was! "The field was packed, the dogs were on top form, and the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Cotton's Creche was a hive of activity throughout the day. (Image: Cotton's Creche) 'Thanks to everyone'sgenerosity (and some very enthusiastic raffle ticket buying!), we raised an amazing £842.34 for our two chosen dog charities – that's over £200 an hour! "Every single penny will help give dogs a better future, and we're so proud to support the work these amazing rescues do. "'It was busy from the word go, and we couldn't have pulled it off without our incredible team. Everyone mucked in – setting up early, running stalls, organising the show rings, serving food, keeping the dogs happy and safe, and keeping the whole day running like clockwork. "To everyone who helped, attended, donated, cheered on a pup, or entered the dog show – thank you. It really does take a village to pull something like this together and we're so grateful to have such a kind, supportive community around us. "Here's to next year – which will be ten years and even more wagging tails!"
