Marvel's 'Black Panther' spinoff 'Ironheart' puts a new hero in the spotlight. Here's what to know about the TV series.
Marvel's "Ironheart" puts a new hero in the spotlight. Three years after she was first introduced in " Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) is back as the focus of the upcoming TV series. In the 2022 film, the teenage tech genius built her own version of the Iron Man suit and fought against Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and the Atlantean army alongside Shuri (Letitia Wright). While the Wakandans didn't let Riri keep the armor at the end of the film, they didn't say anything about her not making another suit — and that's exactly what she does in "Ironheart." In the series, which is produced by "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler, she'll also contend with the divide between magic and technology thanks to the introduction of a character named The Hood. Here's what to know about the show. 'Ironheart' premieres on June 24 The first "Ironheart" trailer shows Riri living in Chicago after the events of "Wakanda Forever" and building her own suit of armor. She crosses paths with Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), who wears a magical hood that gives him dark, mystical powers. In the footage, which was released on May 14, Robbins promises Riri that he can fund her "vision" if they work together. He points out that she is overlooked at college despite being a genius. The trailer confirms that the six-episode miniseries will start airing on Disney+ on June 24 in the US. Dominique Thorne leads the 'Ironheart' cast alongside Anthony Ramos This is Riri's second appearance in the MCU, and the character has appeared in the Marvel comics since 2016. The Hood was introduced to comic readers in 2002 as a petty criminal who gains magical powers after he steals a hooded cape and a pair of boots from a demon. The outfit allows him to turn invisible when holding his breath, and he can also levitate. Alden Ehrenreich, best known for playing a young Han Solo in " Solo: A Star Wars Story," plays an original character named Joe McGillicuddy, who has a secret bunker, as seen in the trailer. Actor Sacha Baron Cohen is also listed in the cast, but his role is unknown. Rounding out the cast are Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington, Riri's friend, Anji White as Riri's mother, and Manny Montana as Cousin John.

In first ‘Ironheart' trailer, Riri Williams is ready to build something iconic
'Ironheart' may have been delayed, but it appears she won't be denied. Marvel Television released the teaser trailer for 'Ironheart' on Wednesday, giving audiences their first proper look at the upcoming show staring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. The series was announced back in 2020 before the character made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the 2022 film 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.' Set after the events of 'Wakanda Forever,' 'Ironheart' will see Riri back home in Chicago as she strives to make her own impact and establish her own legacy — likely with a new high tech suit of armor she builds. 'After my internship abroad,' Riri says in the trailer, alluding to her time in Wakanda, 'I want to build something undeniable. Something … iconic.' In 'Wakanda Forever,' Riri is introduced as an MIT whiz kid who catches the eyes of the Wakandans after inventing a vibranium detector. When Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) saves her life, Riri offers up her expertise to help Shuri (Letitia Wright) and the Wakandans beat their foes. The teaser kicks off with Riri facing a test from the mysterious Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), who can tap into the dark arts when he dons a magical hood. 'Riri, I see you,' Parker says in the trailer. 'I see you're fed up, waiting to be acknowledged for your greatness ... I can give you the tools to help you carry out your vision.' The teaser also offers glimpses of others in Riri's orbit, including her best friend (played by Lyric Ross) and another 'shady' young man (played by Alden Ehrenreich). 'Ironheart' boasts 'Black Panther' and 'Sinners' filmmaker Ryan Coogler among its executive producers. Chinaka Hodge is the show's head writer and Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes directed all six episodes. 'Ironheart' will hit Disney+ on June 24.

Marvel drops first 'Ironheart' trailer — time for Riri Williams to suit up
After multiple delays, Marvel's "Ironheart" miniseries is nearly here — and we've finally got a trailer and release date to prove it. On Wednesday, May 14, Marvel Studios gave MCU fans a first look at the solo show spotlighting Riri Williams (played by Dominque Thorne), a genius MIT engineer introduced in 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Riri became a hero when she assisted the Wakandans against the attacks of Namor, the Submariner (Tenoch Huerta). The six-part miniseries, which is set to debut on Disney Plus on June 24 at 9 p.m. ET with the show's first three episodes, will reunite star Thorne with her "Wakanda Forever" director Ryan Coogler, who is an executive producer on the new spinoff series. The two-minute trailer sees Thorne's Riri — soon to be known as Ironheart — having to navigate her way through her first "interview," which forces her to utilize that brilliant mechanical mind to free herself from a trapped elevator that is slowly but surely filling with a fatal gas. Talk about a stressful 101 course! Per Marvel, the official logline for the series reads: "Set after the events of 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,' Marvel Television's 'Ironheart' pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, aka 'The Hood' (Anthony Ramos)." It's during one of her encounters with Ramos's character that Riri declares that she wants to "building something undeniable ... something iconic." Something like your very own Iron Man suit? Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. That might be easier said than done, The Hood warns: "I can give you the tools to help you carry out your vision. But anyone who's ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done. What will you do, Riri?" Along with Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos, the "Ironheart" cast also includes Lyric Ross as Riri's friend Natalie Washington; Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy; Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington; Anji White as Riri's mom; Manny Montana as Cousin John; and "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Shea Couleé as Slug. With scripts overseen by head writer Chinaka Hodge, the six episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. "Ironheart" has faced several delays, moving from 2023 to 2025, along with changes in Disney and Marvel Studios' content strategy. We'll see exactly what Riri ends up choosing to do in her quest for greatness when "Ironheart" premieres on Disney Plus next month. As always, Tom's Guide will keep you posted on all things "Ironheart" related in the meantime, from character details to plot points to new teaser trailers.

Finally, the First Ironheart Trailer Is Here
The year 2025 has been pretty packed with Marvel, between the movies and shows dropping this year and teases of future media on the horizon. But we haven't heard much about the next show coming to Disney+—until now. Today's trailer for Marvel's Ironheart brings a young and well-armed Avenger into the spotlight. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced audiences to Riri Williams (Dominque Thorne), an MIT genius who built her own Iron Man-esque armored suit and helped the Wakandans fight the Talokanil. She may have left her suit behind in Wakanda, but she hasn't given up trying to make new ones while back home in Chicago. It's not long before she crosses paths with Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), a misfit with a hood that lets him use dark magic. With no other heroes in Chicago, it falls to her to protect Chicago from Robbins and other interested parties. Also starring Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Anji White, and Manny Montana, Ironheart premieres June 24 on Disney+.

Aussie actor looks absolutely jacked in new workout video
Aussie movie star Chris Hemsworth looks fitter than ever in an intense new workout video he shared to Instagram overnight. The 41-year-old actor posted videos of his backyard training regimen, a high-intensity kickboxing workout, which he dubbed 'a little Avengers pre-game warm up.' Hemsworth is about to reprise his role as Thor in the next Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, which began filming in recent days. Set for release in May next year, this next Avengers film will be the fifth instalment in the series, following 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Hemsworth leads a cast that will include Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Sebastian Stan and Vanessa Kirby in an all-star line-up, as the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and 'original' X-Men team up to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. While he regularly keeps fans updated on his workout regime, Hemsworth has said in the past that there's a downside to being so jacked. In a 2021 interview with the UK's Telegraph, he said he'd be taken more seriously as an actor if he wasn't such a keen bodybuilder. 'There is an aesthetic that the role requires. Bodybuilding is seen as vanity, whereas if I gained a lot of weight that would harm my health or become skinny for a role, it would probably be called a serious actor,' he told the outlet. In the same interview, Hemsworth confessed he'd previously 'overtrained' his body in a quest for perfection. 'For years I probably overtrained. People who do muscle-building often don't realise it's a sport that shouldn't be seven days a week, two hours a day. I was doing that in the previous Thors and was coming up sorer, with less energy,' he said. Hemsworth's longtime personal trainer and childhood friend Luke Zocchi, previously gave some insight into the actor's gruelling pre-Thor training regimen. He told Page Six in 2021 that it all comes down to 'consistency, hard work and also eating the right foods'. One of the Avengers star's main challenges when it comes to bulking up is consuming enough to fuel his body. 'When we go into prep for movies like Thor, it's a massive increase in food,' Zocchi said. 'He eats, like, six to eight meals a day.'
