Trump Team Sinks Even Lower With New Attack on Abrego Garcia's Wife
Donald Trump's administration is now attempting to smear the wife of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man deported to El Salvador due to an 'administrative error.' During an interview on Newsmax's Wake Up America Thursday, assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin criticized Abrego Garcia's wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, who'd been forced to move her family to a safe house after the DHS posted a document that included her full address. McLaughlin tried to claim that the government hadn't done anything wrong by posting the documents. 'These were publicly accessible documents,' she said. 'It wasn't just the Department of Homeland Security that had them, it's any member of the American public can go out to a courthouse and get these documents. So to try to lay that at our feet is just inaccurate.' But McLaughlin took it a step further, attempting to sow doubt about Vasquez Sura's 'sob story.' 'I think it's important to point to her credibility, a number of times, including that in her own written testimony she said she feared her husband,' McLaughlin said. The document the government had posted containing the family's address was a protective order that Vasquez Sura had sought against her husband but then abandoned. 'She said that he abused her, that he ripped off her shirt, that he slapped her, that he was scratching her, that she was trying to take her children away. And now she's pushing this sob story that they had a wonderful relationship, that they never fought,' McLaughlin said. 'I think most couples fight, so, I unfortunately think this woman is burning down her own credibility as well.' In reality, it's McLaughlin who has undermined her own credibility in her crusade to see Abrego Garcia remain in El Salvador. Last week, she claimed in a post on X that when Abrego Garcia was arrested in 2019 for loitering, he was found with 'rolls of cash.' But anyone who actually bothers to read the uncompelling police documents would know that the hoodie he was wearing at the time had cash printed on it. It should come as no surprise that McLaughlin was completely mischaracterizing Vasquez Sura's statement about the abandoned protective order against her husband. 'After surviving domestic violence in a previous relationship, I acted out of caution following a disagreement with Kilmar by seeking a civil protective order, in case things escalated,' Vasquez Sura said in a statement to multiple outlets Wednesday. 'Things did not escalate, and I decided not to follow through with the civil court process. We were able to work through the situation privately as a family, including by going to counseling. 'Our marriage only grew stronger in the years that followed. No one is perfect, and no marriage is perfect. But that is not a justification for ICE's action of abducting him and deporting him to a country where he was supposed to be protected from removal. Kilmar has always been a loving partner and father, and I will continue to stand by him and demand justice for him,' the statement read. Vasquez Sura, a U.S. citizen, is currently staying in an undisclosed location with her three children as the U.S. government makes continued attempts to flout a Supreme Court order requiring that it 'facilitate' the return of her husband. Vasquez Sura has found herself at the center of a political firestorm with far-reaching implications, as both the Trump administration and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele insist that Abrego Garcia will not be coming back to the U.S.

Newsmax guest defends Trump golfing as markets tumble: ‘Don't want people to see you stressed'
Kaye appeared on the rightwing broadcaster's morning show on Monday, Wake Up America, taking part in a discussion about the economic effects of Trump's tariffs and the media's reaction to them. 'The big thing I saw was they were all complaining that President Donald Trump was casually playing golf over the weekend,' said Kaye. 'Well, when you're in the middle of a negotiation, you don't want people to see you stressed out.' 'You don't want them thinking that you've made a mistake. So Donald Trump goes, 'Here's the deal. It's Liberation Day, you're all getting reciprocal tariffs. I'm going to go hit the links,'' he added. 'And now all of the other countries realize that Donald Trump is not losing sleep over this, and that they are going to be losing a large portion of their GDP.' 'So yes, whenever Donald Trump makes a move, whether it's good or bad for the economy, the other networks, the Democrats, the mainstream media, or the legacy media, they are going to react negatively because they are trying their best to make Donald Trump, one of the most popular presidents in the entire history of our country, look bad and make their party, one of the most unpopular in the history of this country, look, I don't know, not as bad as they actually are,' he claimed. Newsmax host Sharla McBride chimed in, saying, 'And you know what, is playing golf that bad when we saw our previous president lying on the beach every single weekend? At least this president is getting some exercise, right?' The segment was highlighted by Mediaite. Democrats did indeed slam the president for golfing as the markets went into a meltdown. Trump departed Washington, D.C., on Thursday to attend a dinner for the LiV Golf Tournament before taking part in a club championship at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter. On Thursday, the first day of trading after Trump's announcement, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted almost four percent, and the Nasdaq fell nearly six percent. The slump continued on Friday as the Dow fell 5.5 percent and the S&P 500 went down six percent. Democratic California Sen. Adam Schiff appeared on NBC 's on Sunday, saying, "I think people have seen their retirement savings on fire. And there he is out on the golf course.' "That may end up being the most enduring image of the Trump presidency, that is, the president out on a golf cart while people's retirement is in flames,' he added. 'While Donald Trump is relaxing on the golf course, working people are worried about rising prices and an economic crash,' Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote on X on Sunday. ' Congress has the power to reel in the dumbest trade war in history—and stop this madness. All we need is a handful of Republican votes to reverse course.'

Cammack encourages Trump to ‘elevate' Stefanik after midterms
Florida Rep. Kat Cammack (R) said she hopes President Trump will choose to 'elevate' Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) after the 2026 midterms following the news this week that Trump pulled her nomination to become United Nations ambassador in order to keep her in the house. Cammack said in an interview on Newsmax's 'Wake Up America' on Friday that Stefanik will be a 'rock star' and will be welcomed back into the House and GOP leadership. She said she texted Stefanik saying, 'This sucks, but we all understand.' 'But my hope is that President Trump can find a way after midterms to really elevate her profile and really put her in a place where she can continue to do a great service to our nation,' Cammack said. The White House notified the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday that it was withdrawing Stefanik's nomination to be U.N. ambassador following rumors earlier in the day that the nomination would be pulled. Trump later confirmed his decision on Truth Social, citing the narrow GOP House majority and the uncertainty of how the special election to replace her would play out. Stefanik's district, the New York 21st Congressional District, is heavily conservative and voted for Trump by 21 points and Stefanik by 24 points in November. The decision also came ahead of two special elections in Florida next week that are even more conservative-leaning, but one of which has sparked some concern about Republicans about the possibility of the Democratic candidate pulling off an upset or at least making the race much closer than normal. Republicans currently have a 218-213 majority in the House, allowing the party to lose up to two votes and still be able to pass legislation with party-line splits. Trump said Stefanik would rejoin the 'House Leadership Team,' but what position she will hold is unclear because she gave up her post as chair of the House Republican Conference after being nominated for ambassador. Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) was chosen to take her spot, and a source has confirmed she doesn't plan to step down. All other top GOP leadership positions are also filled. A source had told The Hill that leaders are looking to create a position for her. Stefanik told Fox News on Thursday night that she will stay in the House and the decision is about being a 'team player.' She said Trump and her had multiple conversations during the day.
