Hundreds Walk for Life to benefit local pregnancy center
BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Over 300 people stepped off in the Pregnancy Help Center's Walk for Life on Saturday. After the walk through Boardman Park, participants enjoyed a free lunch and music. The event helps raise money for the no-cost women's center, which offers help and resources like pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and access to a baby boutique. The Pregnancy Help Center has been in the area for 38 years. 'It's so fun to see everyone, up to 80 and over and little babies in strollers, all celebrating the gift of life together today,' said organizer Mackenzie Sanchez. Sanchez says they expect to raise over $70,000 with the event. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

KBIQ bids farewell to Southern Colorado listeners
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A beloved contemporary Christian music station in Southern Colorado, 102.7 KBIQ is signing off after nearly 30 years on the air. In a heartfelt message shared on social media this week, the station expressed its gratitude to listeners for their decades of support. As KBIQ comes to an end, contemporary Christian music fans can take comfort in knowing the station's legacy will continue. This Friday, Jan. 31, will be KBIQ's last day on air, but starting next month, a new Christian music station will take over. 'As of Saturday, you'll tune into 102.7 and it will be K-LOVE, not KBIQ,' said Christopher Gould, General Manager, and Senior Vice President for Salem Media Group. As listeners get ready to say goodbye to their favorite hosts, Gould told FOX21 News the switch was not an easy decision: 'KBIQ has been in the Christian music format since its inception, that's about 30 years ago.' The change comes as Salem Media Group moves forward with three major sales aimed at reducing the company's debt. 'Back in the late 1990s and early 2000, we went to the capital markets to borrow a bunch of money to buy radio stations and we've acquired over 100 radio stations nationwide and that's when we bought KBIQ, KGFT, and KZNT here in our community,' Gould explained. Salem Media Group has sold seven contemporary Christian music stations to the Educational Media Foundation or EMF. 'Not just here in Colorado Springs, but in Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Cleveland, Portland, and Sacramento,' Gould said. Starting next month, EMF will take the reins bringing K-LOVE's Christian music programming to Southern Colorado listeners. 'That was a very intentional decision that we made in selling these stations across America to EMF,' Gould explained. 'They're very good programmers of Christian music and so you'll still have great Christian music flowing through 102.7 after we made the sale, which is very important to us.' For nearly 30 years, KBIQ fans have supported the station through many events like the Walk For Life at Memorial Park, raising money for non-profits in the region. Of course, the station's mascot, Marty the Moose, was at every event. 'That work of partnering with local Christian organizations has been all the joy of our lives and that will continue with the other radio stations that we have,' Gould said. While KBIQ is signing off, its sister stations will continue to serve Southern Colorado. KGFT 100.7 will keep broadcasting faith-based programs like 'Focus on the Family' with Jim Daly, and KZNT 'The Answer' will remain on the air. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
