Overturned dump truck, possible fuel spill cause shut down on Rock Hill Road in DeFuniak Springs
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Walton County deputies are on scene at the intersection of Rock Hill Road and Hwy 331 S following an overturned dump truck and possible fuel spill. According to authorities, the fuel spill is 5-10 gallons or more. RV fire shuts down eastbound lane on I-10 in Walton County Rock Hill Road is currently shut down. Florida Highway Patrol, Walton County Fire Rescue, and Walton County Emergency Management also responded. No injuries have been reported, authorities confirmed. According to a news release, they are now the second agency in Florida to receive the Florida PEDReady Gold tier recognition for pediatric readiness. This recognition highlights WCFR's commitment to providing the highest standard of care for children in emergencies. The Florida Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Program was developed in collaboration with the state and national organizations. The goal is to ensure EMS agencies are prepared to care for critically ill and injured children. The Gold tier represents the highest level of pediatric preparedness. Officials said it recognizes agencies that have dedicated pediatric care coordinators, specialized equipment, and comprehensive training programs for their teams. 'This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication to ensuring that every child in our community receives the best possible emergency care,' Fire Chief Austin Pugh said. This program will assist parents and caregivers in properly selecting and installing car seats. Officials said the initiative is designed to provide expert guidance and hands-on assistance, ensuring that children are secured correctly while on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car seats have saved over 11,000 children under the age of 5 since 1975. However, research shows that nearly 46 percent of car seats are installed incorrectly, increasing the risk of injury. WCFR contain camper fire on Oak Grove Rd., Darlington
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Walton County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Oak Grove Road in Darlington on Friday night. According to fire officials, just after 7:30 p.m., firefighters arrived to find a camper engulfed in flames. WCFR crews were able to quickly knock down the flames. Walton County hosting Hazmat Collection Day Fortunately, no one was inside at the time, officials wrote in a Facebook post.
