Santosh Ladda dacoity case: Sister of accused killed in encounter arrested, police seize 220gm gold, 7 bullets
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a significant development in the high-profile armed dacoity at the bungalow of Waluj-based industrialist Santosh Ladda in Bajajnagar, the crime branch of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police arrested Rohini Khotkar, the sister of the slain accused Amol Khotkar, who was killed in an encounter following the Waluj heist.
Police commissioner Pravin Pawar said gold ornaments were looted during the armed dacoity, and seven live bullets were found at her home. "The arrest added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into one of the city's biggest dacoity cases," said police commissioner Pawar.
Rohini Khotkar became the 22nd accused to be arrested in this case, in which the crime branch recovered 800gm of gold, Rs 8 lakh in cash, a two-wheeler, three four-wheelers, and all 32kg of silver.

Crime branch inspector Sambhaji Pawar said Rohini possessed 220gm of gold and seven live bullets, discovered during a search of her residence in Padegaon of Mitmita area.
"After obtaining permission from the court, she was arrested on Monday night. She was produced before the court on Tuesday and remanded in police custody till June 27," said Pawar.
A week ago, based on Rohini's alleged tip-off, police recovered 30kg of stolen silver hidden inside a car parked in a garage.

Her arrest raised questions about her possible involvement in the crime and suggested a deeper conspiracy, police said.
On May 15, armed dacoits targeted the bungalow of industrialist Santosh Ladda in Waluj and looted valuables including 5,500gm of gold, 32kg silver, and Rs 70,000 in cash. Amol Khotkar, a prime suspect, was shot dead in a police encounter while allegedly attempting to flee and opening fire on officers.
The robbery and subsequent encounter were followed by daily revelations, with Rohini's arrest being the latest. Earlier, she alleged that her brother was killed in a premeditated police action. "My brother used to tell me that a contract was given to eliminate him by a wealthy man. He would often say, 'If I don't return home, know that they have finished me'," she claimed after his encounter.
Investigations also revealed peculiar elements in the planning of the heist. According to police, Balasaheb Ingole, a close acquaintance of Ladda, informed accomplices that large amounts of cash were stored at the businessman's home. Believing in black magic, Ingole and his group planned to hire a man who would use occult practices to extract the cash without entering the premises physically. However, another accused, Hasbe, learned of this plan and, with his team, carried out armed robbery instead.
Police have not ruled out further arrests and expect more revelations in the coming days as they assemble the network behind the multi-crore heist.
