Baby who died at childcare centre choked on food, say police
Seven-month-old Muammar Adli was found unconscious at the childcare centre on Monday, and confirmed dead at 11.08am.
PETALING JAYA : The post-mortem of a seven-month-old who died at a childcare centre in Taman Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday confirmed that the baby had choked on food and milk.
Berita Harian reported Wangsa Maju deputy police chief Syahrul Anuar Abdul Wahab as saying that the forensic investigation at Kuala Lumpur Hospital found food and drink in the baby's airways.
'The cause of death has been identified as asphyxia due to food and milk aspiration.
'The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exposure of children,' he said today.
Muammar Adli was found unconscious at the childcare centre on Monday and confirmed dead at 11.08am.
Police received a report from the boy's father at the Setapak police station at 1.26pm the same day.
The social welfare department has confirmed that the childcare centre has a valid licence, last renewed on Jan 24 this year.
Social welfare director-general Che Murad Sayang Ramjan said his department would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
