Rai alleged that in the past, waqf properties were misused to encroach upon religious sites belonging to Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians, besides marginalized Muslim communities. He said that Congress-era amendments allowed unverified claims to designate land as waqf, creating widespread irregularities shielded from judicial review.
Rai emphasized that the new reforms aimed to curb encroachments, ensure transparent management of waqf assets, and channel revenues towards the welfare of poor Muslims.
Refuting opposition claims, he clarified that no mosques, madrassas, or graveyards would be seized.
As part of the campaign, BJP will organize town halls, connect with minority scholars and women leaders, and intensify outreach through media and social platforms.
The workshop was attended by Mahanagar unit president Anand Dwivedi, minority morcha leaders Shadab Alam, Mohammad Aneesh, Sher Ali Khan, and party office-bearers and workers.
