Steelheads' Kraws Earns Goalie Of The Week

The ECHL announced on Monday that Idaho Steelheads goaltender Ben Kraws has been named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 17-23. The 24-year-old Kraws went 3-0-0 with two shutouts, a 0.67 goals-against average and a save percentage of .967 in three appearances for the Steelheads against Allen last week. The rookie netminder, who cracked The Hockey News' ECHL Friday Five, stopped all 27 shots in a 7-0 win on Wednesday, turned aside all 31 shots in a 1-0 victory on Friday and made 31 saves in a 5-2 win on Saturday. Under a one-year NHL contract with the Dallas Stars, Kraws is 20-8-4 in 32 appearances for the Steelheads this season with four shutouts, a 2.89 goals-against average and a save percentage of .911. Kraws is tied for second in the ECHL in shutouts and tied for sixth in wins among all goaltenders. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound native of Cranbury, N.J. is also 2-1-0 in three games with the Texas Stars in the AHL this season. Kraws has made five consecutive starts for Idaho including 12 of the last 13 games dating back to Feb. 21. He is 6-2-0 in his last eight starts with three shutouts, a 1.62 goals-against average, and a .949 save percentage. With 10 games left in the regular season, the Steelheads are three points back of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Mountain Division and just four points back of third place. Idaho is on the road this week for four games against the Tahoe Knight Monsters beginning Wednesday. Puck drop is set for 8 Pm MT.

Admirals' Milic Named Goaltender Of The Week

After back-to-back nights in which he allowed a combined one goal in 52 shots, Norfolk Admirals goalie Thomas Milic was chosen as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week, the league announced Monday. Milic was stellar in net in two games against the Trois-Rivieres Lions. On Feb. 28, the 21-year-old netminder stopped all 21 shots he faced to earn a 4-0 shutout. The following night, he made 30 saves in a 3-1 victory. The Lions salvaged the third game of the series 7-0 on March 2, but Milic did not play in that game. For the weekend, Milic went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average and .981 save percentage with one shutout. Drafted in the fifth round (151st overall) by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2023 NHL Draft, Milic is 5-3-0 in eight appearances with Norfolk in 2024-25 with two shutouts, a 1.88 GAA and .936 SP. He has also seen action in 18 AHL games with the Manitoba Moose. A native of Coquitlam, B.C., Milic has appeared in 26 career ECHL contests with the Admirals, going 16-6-3 with a 2.27 GAA, .917 SP and four shutouts. He is 24-19-4 in 51 games with Manitoba and has one shutout, a 2.99 GAA and .891 SP. Before he turned pro, the 6-foot, 179-pound Milic appeared in 91 career games with Seattle of the Western Hockey League, posting a 60-23-6 mark with eight shutouts, a 2.35 GAA and .917 SP. The Admirals return home to the Scope for a three-game series against the Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades beginning Wednesday. Puck drop is set for 7:05 Pm ET.

Stingrays' Bjorklund Named Goaltender Of The Week

On Monday, South Carolina Stingrays goalie Garin Bjorklund was awarded the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 17-23. Last week, Bjorklund went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average, .980 save percentage and one shutout. The 22-year-old netminder made 22 saves in a 5-1 victory against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits Feb. 21, then stopped all 23 shots he faced in a 3-0 shutout of the Worcester Railers Feb. 23. Under contract with the NHL's Washington Capitals, Bjorklund is having a fine season with the Rays. He's 14-3-3 in 21 appearances and ranks second in the ECHL with a 2.00 GAA and fourth with a .928 SP. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Bjorklund has appeared in 49 ECHL games with South Carolina during his career, going 29-14-4 with two shutouts, a 2.76 GAA and .901 SP. Before turning pro, Bjorklund played with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League. Over 96 games, he posted a 40-48-4 record with three shutouts, a 3.50 GAA and .892 SP. The Stingrays are back in action Wednesday in Estero against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades at Hertz Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:30 Pm ET.
