Report: Mizzou guard Tamar Bates to attend predraft workout with Warriors
Missouri senior Tamar Bates is reportedly among the prospects who will work out with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, according to Drew King of
Bates averaged 13.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals and one assist on 39.7% shooting from 3-point range in 34 games with the Tigers. He led the country in free-throw percentage (94.6) and ranked second in the SEC in true-shooting percentage (64.3).
The 6-foot-5 guard was among the prospects who were invited from the G League Elite Camp to the draft combine last week in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of the top scrimmage performers, recording 19 points, two rebounds and two steals on May 15.
The visit with the Warriors is the second known team workout for Bates this draft cycle. He previously worked out with the Portland Trail Blazers on May 5, along with the likes of Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams and Kentucky center Amari Williams.
The Warriors currently have only one selection in the draft, the 41st pick in the second round via the Miami Heat. They owe their first-round pick to the Heat as part of the Jimmy Butler trade and their second-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Without a first-round pick, the Warriors are likely prioritizing bringing in players projected to go in their range or those prospects who may go undrafted next month.
The draft will occur June 25-26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
