Centerville Rotary Club installs ‘Peace Pole'
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Thursday saw a local service organization unveil a tangible symbol of peace.
The Centerville Rotary Club' 'Peace Pole' is now on display at Grant Park's Kennard Nature Nook.
The pole is inscribed with a phrase written in nine languages: 'May Peace Prevail on Earth,' an expression of peace on a local and global scale.

Leaders with the rotary club say that peace is apart of their mission and something that the world needs right now.
'Wanted to make it visible and attractive for folks to come,' said Kelly McDonald, the club's vice president.
'It's a place where educators can bring students to talk about peace. We use the language of tolerance for our community to make it welcoming to everyone, and if there's one thing the world needs more of now it's peace.'
This is the second peace pole in the area, with the other located near the Washington Centerville Public Library.
