Washington County seniors benefit from weekend ‘Legacy Gala'
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD. (DC News Now) — Final preparations are underway for Saturday night's 'Light Up the Night' legacy gala in Hagerstown.
The sold-out fundraising event is a way for the community to support several programs to help older adults with housing, nutrition and staffing senior centers.

Curt Miller with the Washington County Commission on Aging says contributions go a long way to providing those high-demand services.
'Programs like Meals of Wheels, home care — getting services out to those who are vulnerable. There are times when we are dealing with waiting lists to try to meet the needs of seniors,' said Miller.
Miller said he hopes the weekend event will shorten the waiting lists for senior services in Washington County.
