Wayne County Chamber of Commerce to take over Taste of Wayne event
GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCT) — United Way of Wayne County has decided to not continue the long-standing Taste of Wayne event and pass it to the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
This is because United Way of Wayne County is focusing more on poverty and helping families and individuals reach financial stability in Wayne County.
'As we move forward with a renewed commitment to tackling poverty and supporting financialstability, we must prioritize initiatives that directly advance this mission,' Executive Director of United Way of Wayne County, Sherry Archibald said. 'Taste of Wayne has been a joyful part ofour history, and it was not an easy decision to step away. However, we are confident that theChamber of Commerce is the right partner to carry this event forward.'
The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce has shown their dedication to the local food and business community, especially with their annual Foodie Week. Their connection with local restaurants, caterers, and vendors make them well equipped to continue the legacy of Taste of Wayne.
'We are grateful for United Way's trust and for the opportunity to build upon what they havecultivated over the past three decades,' Interim President of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, Janet Brock said. 'We look forward to honoring the spirit of Taste of Wayne while infusing it with new energy as part of our mission to support local businesses and communityengagement.
