In response to the backlash received after triggering a major 'language debate' on social media, the man issued an apology saying, he respects the city that has given him a livelihood. The non-Kannadiga man, who recently made the headlines after a video showed him demanding a local auto driver to 'speak in Hindi" in Bengaluru, has now issued an apology in Kannada for 'hurting sentiments'. In response to the backlash received after triggering a major 'language debate' on social media, the man issued an apology saying, he respects the city that has given him a livelihood. In the apology video shared by @WeDravidians on X, the man further opened up about how he has been living in the metropolis for the past nine years, for which he then thanked the city. He further claimed that he also went to the nearby police station, to issue the same apology. I have been in Bengaluru for the last nine years and I have deep sentiments attached to this city. Bengaluru has given me life and I respect it. I earn from this city. I like this city a lot. If I hurt anyone's sentiments, I am sorry," he said as per the vide. In the viral video, the man was seen arguing with an auto driver, telling him, 'Speak in Hindi if you want to stay in Bengaluru," as his friends were trying to intervene and calm the situation. ' Noida mein raho ya Banglore mein raho, tum bhi Hindi mein baat karo (Doesn't matter if you are in Noida or Bengaluru! Speak in Hindi)," the man reportedly said before being whisked away by his friend. The auto driver, visibly upset, had retorted, 'You have come to Bengaluru, you speak in Kannada. I won't speak in Hindi". Although, the context behind the altercation remained unclear. The video had sparked an online debate on Hindi-imposition and called out the man for his arrogance. Netizens React To The Apology X users had mixed reactions to the man's apology, with some calling for calm while others remained critical. 'Can't we just get along and talk in English if we don't have a common language? English is a far better tool to communicate. The reality is without English you won't get a decent job in other states," a user said. 'Maybe he was drunk the other day! on drugs? At least have respect for the place that provided you job, food and shelter. Respect the people of the place where you work, even if you don't do this, just shut everything and do your job. Don't leave words and come back apologising," commented another. 'Now, leave him alone guys. He made a mistake and he realized it.
