BLACKPINK's Rose joins Coldplay on stage to sing ‘APT', ‘moved' Chris Martin asks for a second round: ‘Iconic'

British rock band Coldplay continues to make headlines on their South Korea tour by collaborating with some of the biggest names in K-pop. After inviting girl group Twice to perform a special remix of their track 'We Pray' last week, the band surprised fans in Goyang by bringing BLACKPINK's Rose onstage for a live performance of her solo track 'APT.' Originally released in October 2024 as a collaboration with Bruno Mars, 'APT' is featured on Rosé's debut solo album Rosie, which dropped in December. Drenched in pink confetti, the moment turned even more memorable when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin asked her to sing the song again, immediately after the first performance. 'Rose, let's do it again!' he said, to roaring applause from the crowd. View this post on Instagram Shared post on Time Rose's solo debut has been a long time coming. Prior to Rosie, she had only released two singles — 'On the Ground' and 'Gone' — back in 2021. When she first teased the album in October 2024, she described it as deeply personal, calling it a 'little journal of mine' that she poured her 'blood and tears' into. Fans online were quick to react to the Coldplay-Rose moment, calling it 'iconic' and 'unexpected in the best way.' One fan wrote, 'I'm crying. No one even knew Rosé was going to be at the Coldplay concert, but she still had the crowd more hyped than a certain other act — and Chris even asked her to repeat APT. after it ended.' Many fans were left asking for more collaborations, with several saying they'd love to witness it live. The collaboration is part of Coldplay's larger strategy with their 10th studio album Moon Music, which released in October 2024. The album has seen global collaborations, including a viral remix of 'We Pray' featuring Twice, as well as contributions from artists like Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna, and Tini. It follows the band's 2021 album Music of the Spheres, which included their chart-topping BTS collaboration 'My Universe.' Earlier this year, Coldplay also made waves in India with what was reported as the 'biggest concert ever' at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With over 1 lakh people in attendance, the event drew a star-studded crowd including Suhana Khan, Navya Naveli Nanda, Gauri Khan, and cricketer Jasprit Bumrah. Fans called the performance 'mind-blowing' and 'unforgettable.'

If someone of the opposite sex tags them—not on the group account, but on a personal one—you know people are going to talk. Even if it's harmless, unnecessary drama starts. Would you be happy if your idol got tagged like that?' Another netizen also posted online, stating that 'Not just Sana, but I wish he'd stop liking or tagging female idols' pics and videos in general… It's been causing issues for a while, and the fact that it keeps happening is honestly weird.' One shared, 'Even if they're not close, what's wrong with tagging someone after they appeared on stage? I'm not a fan of either, but normal people do this all the time, and so do other celebs. Like if they go to a concert or someone guest performs, they tag them too. Why's this a big deal?' Another also shared that it was not a big deal, saying, 'It feels like it's literally just tagging someone in a post about the stage—nothing more, nothing less. I'm a TWICE fan, and I honestly don't feel anything about it.'

Jin of BTS performs with Coldplay at British band's Seoul concert

Fans were in for a treat when K-pop sensation BTS' Jin made a surprise appearance at British rock band Coldplay's Seoul concert on Saturday (Apr 19). The concert was part of the six-night South Korean leg of the band's Music of the Spheres world tour, which started on Apr 16 and will end on Apr 25. Coldplay previously also held six sold-out shows in Singapore in January 2024. On the third night of the band's concerts, Jin, who was hidden among the crowd at the Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi, held up a signboard that read 'Can I sing The Astronaut with you?'. The Astronaut is Jin's 2022 debut solo single which was co-written by Coldplay. After Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin welcomed Jin on stage, the two sat at the piano where Martin joked: 'Coldplay is the second-best band in the world; BTS, maybe number one I think.' He added: 'We miss you man. You've been in the military; you still look so handsome. Look at this beautiful man.' This was Jin's first time performing live since completing his mandatory military service, where he enlisted in 2022 and was discharged in June 2024. Jin also addressed the crowd and said in Korean: "Before I went to the military, my last stage was Coldplay. Now, my first concert after my discharge is also Coldplay's." In 2022, Jin joined Coldplay at their Buenos Aires concert, where he performed The Astronaut for the first time. Jin, together with Martin then performed the K-pop star's single, followed by My Universe, the 2021 collaborative song between Coldplay and BTS. The BTS member also posted pictures of him and Martin's performance on Instagram. Coldplay and TWICE have teamed up for a powerful new remix of We Pray, first released on Coldplay's 2024 album Moon Music. The updated version, which also features Chilean-Palestinian artist Elyanna, was released to streaming platforms on Thursday 17 April and debuted live the night before at Coldplay's concert in Goyang-si, South Korea. The show is part of the Asian leg of their Music Of The Spheres world tour, with TWICE serving as the opening act. During the emotional live performance, all nine members of TWICE joined Chris Martin and his band onstage, performing a heartfelt second verse sung in Korean. Translated to English, the lyrics include: 'Even if not a single thread of light falls down in the darkness… Will we disappear or last forever? So we just pray.' This is not Coldplay's first collaboration with K-pop superstars. In 2021, they worked with BTS on the global hit My Universe, also featured on Music Of The Spheres. NME awarded Moon Music four stars, describing it as a record of 'resilience' and one of the band's final albums. Coldplay continue their tour across Asia, while TWICE have confirmed their own world tour will follow shortly after their run with the British band.
