A great week with sunshine and mild temperatures
We're in for a fantastic week of weather! Expect daily highs well above average, with plenty of sunshine to enjoy. While it's a chilly start to our Monday morning, with temperatures in the 30s, a jacket is a good idea if you're heading out early. However, it'll warm up quickly, and by this afternoon, we'll see temps climb into the mid to upper 60s.
For reference, the average high for this time of year in Indianapolis is around 49°, but starting tomorrow, that average bumps up to 50°. We'll be seeing highs well above that all week. Our warmest day so far this year was 68° back on Feb. 3, but it looks like we could hit 70° on several days later this week!
As we get toward the end of the week, a strong low-pressure system will move across the country, bringing us the chance for heavy rain and storms Friday night into Saturday. Some of those storms could be strong, so keep an eye on the forecast as we get closer.
And speaking of weather awareness, this week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week here in central Indiana. Our team of meteorologists will be bringing you important stories on tornado and flood safety, the significance of tornado sirens, and how you can volunteer to support the National Weather Service. Be sure to tune in to our 30 minute Weather Authority Severe Weather Outlook special on CBS4 Wednesday at 7 p.m.
