WC receives two national marketing awards
Weatherford College received two gold Paragon Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations at the council's national conference last week in New Orleans celebrating the organization's 50th anniversary. WC's marketing and public relations team were awarded for a viral social media video created by Crystal Woerly, director of public relations, and a large mural installed in the Durant Hall weight room created by graphic designer Leslie Richardson. Both received first place in their respective categories. The 2024 Paragon Awards drew 1,570 entries from 205 colleges across the country and was judged by 59 professionals from the marketing and public relations industry. Woerly also presented a breakout session at the conference titled 'Social Media Superpowers,' sharing her expertise on managing a thriving social media presence with limited resources. 'Presenting to my peers was such a rewarding experience,' Woerly said. 'It was a bit nerve-wracking, but the overwhelming positive feedback and the realization that my insights resonated with so many professionals made it truly worthwhile. Knowing that my work helped others navigate similar challenges is incredibly fulfilling.' NCMPR's Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design, strategy and communication at community and technical colleges. It is the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. 'This national recognition is a testament to the talent and dedication of our creative services team,' said Brent Baker, vice president of institutional advancement. 'Crystal and Leslie's work exemplifies the innovative spirit and commitment to excellence that defines Weatherford College. We are so proud of their achievements and the recognition they bring to our institution.'
