Coachella 2025: Jennie brings out Kali Uchis, thanks crew and dancers in her solo debut
(This story was updated to to correct a misspelling/typo.) Coachella met Jennie. Not as a member of Blackpink, but as a solo artist who is establishing a career beyond K-pop. Yes, she previously performed at Coachella with Blackpink in their history-making headlining set in 2023. But like Lisa, she's pursuing an individual path, one that's included acting in HBO's 'The Idol' to her recently released debut solo album, 'Ruby.' But there were moments during her Weekend 1 performance that you'd be forgiven in forgetting that Jennie has been enjoying stardom for years, like the quick, seemingly self-satisfied smiles as she danced during 'with the IE (way up)' or remarking on the size of her massive crowd. Like she too was meeting what she's capable of. 'To be performing here at the Outdoor Theatre, it feels like a dream,' Jennie said. Like all members of Blackpink, Jennie has faced online criticism, accused of dancing lazily among the squad of four. Warranted or not is up to the individual to decide, but if you need evidence to sway someone in support of Jennie's talent and energy, it's worth looking to her performances of 'Mantra,' 'ExtraL' and 'like Jennie' during Weekend 1. Her movement was strong, to the beat and full of the attitude required for 'ExtraL,' the collaboration with Grammy-winning rapper Doechii (Unfortunately for fans, Doechii was not a surprise guest.) Wearing a trendy pair of black sunglasses, Jennie danced to the camera and strutted across the stage. She also went hard for 'like Jennie,' and understandably so for the self-aggrandizing anthem. You could hear her breathing heavily after both songs, but especially after 'like Jennie' as she took a moment to speak to the audience. 'I did not expect to see so many people out there,' the singer said. 'Wow, that's a lot of people.' 'Ruby' featured collaborations with Dua Lipa, Doechii, Dominic Fike, multi-instrumentalist FKJ, Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis. It was ultimately Uchis who joined Jennie on stage for their song with Childish Gambino, 'Damn Right.' 'I love you so much, Kali,' Jennie told her. More: Coachella 2025: From 'Starlight' to 'ExtraL,' see full setlist for Jennie's solo performance I've covered five sets in their entirety at Coachella Weekend 1 this year, and yes, considering there were dozens of performers on Sunday alone, I recognize that's not much. But Jennie did something that my colleagues agreed was notable. Before she left the stage, Jennie thanked her crew, her backup dancers and her vocalists. I'm not saying that the artists I covered aren't thankful toward their crew or backup dancers or vocalists. But the clear, public acknowledgement of all the people helping to make Jennie's show what it was stood out, especially from a performer who's no newbie to massive fame. Coachella 2026 Tickets: Complete Buying Guide, Dates & Pricing
The post Coachella 2026 Tickets: Complete Buying Guide, Dates & Pricing appeared first on Consequence. Coachella 2025 has come and gone, and now, all eyes are on Coachella 2026. The longtime Indio, California festival will be celebrating its 25th edition in 2026, with Weekend 1 going down from April 10th-12th and Weekend 2 going down from April 17th-19th. Find our guide to buying tickets to Coachella 2026, including on-sale times, pass types, changes between Weekend 1 and 2, and more. Get Coachella 2026 Tickets Here Passes for Coachella 2026 will go on sale on Friday, May 2nd beginning at 11:00 a.m. PST via Coachella's official website. The upcoming sale is just the advance sale; when the lineup arrives (usually in January, though for 2025 it came in late November), there will be another general sale. The advance sale is limited, so once tickets sell out, fans can get Coachella passes via StubHub, where orders are 110% guaranteed through StubHub's FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. Coachella 2026 will once again offer 3-Day passes only — meaning they will not be selling single day passes for individual days at the festival. Coachella offers a GA tier as well as a VIP tier. While VIP has been expanded in recent years, it doesn't guarantee pit access to the Coachella's various stages, unlike other festivals. VIP does, however, have a dedicated entry and exit lane, access to preferred parking, special food and drink options, a private entry lane for the Yuma tent, and enclosed areas by the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Stage, Sahara Tent, and Mojave Tent. For this year, passes for Weekend 1 are slightly more expensive than Weekend 2. Meanwhile, for those staying in hotels, Coachella also offers the option to bundle your festival pass with a shuttle pass. See below for each tier of passes for the upcoming advance sale: 3-Day GA (Weekend 1): $599 ($549 + $50 fees) 3-Day GA (Weekend 2): $549 ($499 + $50 fees) 3-Day GA + Shuttle Pass (Weekend 1): $729 ($679 + $50 fees) 3-Day GA + Shuttle Pass (Weekend 2): $679 ($629 + $50 fees) 3-Day VIP (Weekend 1): $1,299 ($1,169 + $130 fees) 3-Day VIP (Weekend 2): $1,199 ($1,069 + $130 fees) For the first time since the festival extended to two weekends in 2012, Coachella Weekend 1 is now more expensive than Coachella Weekend 2; it is unknown if Weekend 1 will revert back to the original price when the general sale occurs after the 2026 lineup drops. The price hike can be attributed to several factors. For one, the grass is literally greener during Weekend 1; the groundskeepers do an ample job of rehabilitating the Empire Polo Club's fields between weekends, but it's a challenge when thousands of people tread on fresh-cut grass during the first weekend. Meanwhile, Weekend 1 also has a higher percentage of livestream viewers, and to that end, a typically-larger percentage of special guests. The Quasar and DoLab stages rotate acts each weekend, and Coachella's recent 'surprise set time adds' — which were Weezer (Weekend 1) and Ed Sheeran (Weekend 2) this year — are typically split as well. Beyond that, though, both weekends feature roughly the same lineup, headliners and all. photo courtesy of Coachella Yes — you won't be alone, either, as a new study revealed that more than half of Coachella 2025 attendees financed their passes via a payment plan. Coachella offers a special payment plan for its upcoming May 2025 advance sale. For plans initiated from May 2nd to May 15th, 2025, attendees can pay $49 down at checkout, plus 8 equal payments of $55 with no added interest (starting May 16th) through December 15, 2025. For plans initiated from May 16th to May 31st, attendees can pay $49 down at checkout, plus 7 equal payments of $55 with no added interest (starting June 1st) through December 15, 2025. See Coachella's website for more details about payment plans. Coachella offers several camping tiers, with each sold separately from passes to the festival itself. For 2026, though, the festival has removed their standard Tent Camping tier. Tent Camping is still available in the form of the more upscale 'Ready-Set Tent Camping,' but otherwise, they're prioritizing Car Camping this year. See below for the various camping tiers, their prices, and what they offer: Car Camping: $160 ($150 + $10 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — The O.G., standard car camping experience at Coachella. Group Car Camping: $160 ($150 + $10 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — The standard car camping experience with the option to arrive separate from your group and camp together on plot laid out specifically for your party. Preferred Car Camping: $420 ($400 + $20 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — Guarantees a camping spot close to the festival entrance. Preferred Front Row Car Camping: $520 ($500 + $20 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — Guarantees a camping spot in the front row of car camping, just steps away from the festival entrance. Powered Car Camping: $620 ($595 + $25 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — Car camping in a guaranteed spot with a power outlet and access to upgraded restroom and shower facilities. Ready-Set Tent Camping: $690 ($665 + $25 fees) + Transient Occupancy Tax — Camping in a pre-set limited-edition Coachella souvenir tent. La Campana Camping: $2,600 for 1 Queen or 2 Twins, $3,300 for 2 Queens or 4 Twins — A little bit of glamping, with real beds in private, temperature-controlled tents. Lake El Dorado Camping: $2,300 (2 Person)/$3,000 (4 Person) — Private, secluded, ready-to-go camping lodges. Safari Camping: $10,000 — The ultimate Coachella glamping experience with guest passes, golf carts, and much more. There are many different hotels to stay at near Coachella. The festival itself offers various Travel and Hotel Packages through Valley Music Travel; these packages come with shuttle passes as well (the exact shuttle schedule will be announced at a later date). Otherwise, there are lots of hotels within driving distance to the festival in Indio, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Springs, and more. If you're planning a trip for Coachella 2026, you can save 15% off travel and accommodations through The lineup for Coachella 2026 is unknown at this time. As stated, the Coachella lineup usually arrives in early January; maybe there was something in the water at Goldenvoice last fall, though, because the Coachella 2025 lineup arrived two months earlier than it usually does. Perhaps they were attempting to get the general sale going before and around the holidays, as opposed to shortly after the new year. Either way, when the lineup arrives, we'll update this post with more info. Boho chic! Indie sleaze! Coachella looks show the aughts are back in style.
We're four months into 2025, but as far as Coachella is concerned, it may as well be 2005 all over again. Festivalgoers descended on the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., for three-day Weekend 1 dressed in clothing that wouldn't have been out of place 20 years ago. Sheer, ruffled tops, chunky belts and cowboy boots are a few of the aughts fashion staples that have emerged as favorites among attendees. With Weekend 2 of Coachella kicking off Friday, expect more of the same. 'We've seen a kind of continuous interest in Y2K fashion, particularly from Gen Z and younger demographics,' Emma McClendon, an assistant professor of fashion studies at St. John's University, told Yahoo Entertainment. What constitutes a 'festival-appropriate' outfit is often subjective. Inspiration can be drawn from various people and places — whether it's following in the sartorial footsteps of 'it' girls from past festivals or sourcing pieces specific to a certain time period. For some festivalgoers, curating outfits for Coachella can be as important as choosing which artists you plan to see perform. Leading up to Weekend 1, which took place April 11-13, Google Trends cited the 'butterfly top' as the No. 1 searched item in relation to 'Coachella outfits' for the past month. Worn by celebrities like Mariah Carey and Salma Hayek in the 2000s, the Emanuel Ungaro-designed garment was characterized by its colorful crystal embellishments and butterfly-shaped silhouette. The butterfly, as a wider motif in fashion, was also a Y2K staple — beloved by stars like Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton. In the case of Coachella 2025, the aughts are the style blueprint. That goes for performers as well. South African R&B singer Tyla wore vintage Dolce & Gabbana pieces sourced from the designer's spring 2000 runway collection for her April 11 set. The 'Water' singer wore a white cropped T-shirt over a gold crystal mesh bra, which she paired with a fringed, brocade micro-mini skirt. Charli XCX also drew inspiration from the aughts when curating her Coachella looks. The 'Club Classics' singer hit the stage in a Tom Ford-era Saint Laurent blouse from the fall-winter 2002 collection, along with a Dolce & Gabbana belt from spring-summer 2003. She was also spotted wearing a lace camisole and ruched, low-slung maxi skirt at a festival event. Singer-songwriter Clairo leaned into the 2000s-era trend of wearing sheer, lace fabrics when she stepped out in a layered patchwork dress for her April 12 performance. Coachella, per McClendon, is a 'microcosm' that helps us better understand what fashion people are interested in when it comes to materials, colors and silhouettes. While it's important to note that outfits worn at Coachella aren't 'what people are wearing to the office or to school,' she says, there's a larger revival of fashion from the aughts that's returning to the mainstream. 'There's a very clear period right around 2000, both the late '90s and the first years of the 2000s, that feels very distinct from, let's say, post-2005,' she said. 'Post-2005, as we start to get toward [the] 2010s, we start to see skinny jeans and a skinnier silhouette in general, like skinny scarves and also cowboy boots, and certain elements that we're starting to see bubble into the consciousness right now — in terms of what's both on the runways with the return of Chloé's boho and also the return of what now is termed 'indie sleaze' elements.' Cowboy boots, which ranked No. 5 on Google Trends' top items of apparel searched with 'Coachella outfits,' are also 'very much in the ether right now,' said McClendon, and are a staple among festival attendees. She also predicts that horizontal headbands are primed to make a comeback too, as that 'kind of festival dressing, party-girl style of the 2000s' returns. The skull-printed silk chiffon scarf by Alexander McQueen, which debuted during the designer's spring-summer 2003 collection, chunky belts and skinny jeans are other examples of aughts staples that McClendon believes are well on their way, if not already, back in style. These returning trends had their last heyday from 2005 to 2009, McClendon said. 'Sienna Miller, Mary-Kate Olsen, Alexa Chung [and] Kate Moss [are some] of these style icons that really epitomized that moment,' McClendon said. 'I think that's really where we're going to see that interest.' More than being tied to nostalgia, Evan Collins, an architectural designer and founder of the Consumer Aesthetics Research Institute, an online database that catalogs design aesthetics from the late midcentury, suggests that the return to aughts fashion is another signal of the return to maximalism. 'It just sort of intersects with that 20- or 25-year cycle of the early 2000s, which was one of the most maximalist periods ever,' he said. A shift back toward maximalism, Collins said, can sometimes be seen as a sort of collective mourning and a way for people to cope with economic stress or political uncertainty. While this is 'generally what leads to time periods where you get this very ornate like maximalist kind of showy fashion,' he doesn't believe that's the case here. Odds are, these trends are back for a simpler reason: People just like it. 'I don't know if we can put that much [weight into it],' Collins said. '[Sometimes it can just be] a really cool-looking piece of clothing that people haven't seen for like 20 years.'
