Casualty evacuated from beach and report of upturned canoe in busy day for coastguard
A WEST Cumbrian rescue team were called to rescue a casualty from a beach in Whitehaven- in the first of a busy day of rescues for the organisation.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team were called out to three separate incidents on Friday, May 16, including a casualty evacuation in Whitehaven, the securing of a helicopter landing site at the West Cumberland Hospital, and reports of an upturned canoe in Thirlmere.
In a statement on social media, the Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, said: "The team, along with other emergency service colleagues, were tasked on three occasions yesterday.

"๐๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ถ๐๐ฒ - ๐ช๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป Tasked to West Cumberland Hospital to secure the Helicopter Landing Site for Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 from Prestwick, who were transporting a casualty from a tasking with Wasdale MRT. We undertook a sweep of the area to ensure no debris and manned the site, assisting with casualty transfer from the helicopter to the ambulance.

"We joined assets already on scene, along with Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936 from Caernarfon."
