Glastonbury stage shut ahead of Kneecap's performance to prevent overcrowding
Glastonbury closed the West Holt's stage just ahead of Kneecap's hugely anticipated performance at the massive festival amid overcrowding fears as punters flocked to the stage.
The Irish language hip-hop trio played to a packed out stage on Saturday, and fans flocked to secure their spot, but about an hour before the show many were turned away, despite getting to the stage ahead of time, to try and prevent overcrowding.
This came as a huge blow to anyone who hoped to catch the trio's set as it wasn't shown on the BBC's livestream.
Despite the cut-off, the stage is still very much full, with a sea of Irish and Palestinian flags being flown above the thousands of fans.
"This is the biggest crowd we have ever played in front of," the band said to a packed West Holts Stage.
Kneecap member Mo Chara said 'Glastonbury, I'm a free man' when the trio took to West Holts Stage.
Musician Jelani Blackman also joined Kneecap on stage for Harrow Road, before finishing his guest appearance with calls of "free free" to which the crows responded "Palestine".
"Have we got any English here today," one bandmember called to the crowd amid some subdued cheers.
"No no, we're better than that," another says.
"We f***ing love the English people, it's the English government we don't like," came the response as the audience burst into loud cheers once again.
