#WestRandWaterWatch: Here's what you need to know Rand Water has announced that it will be conducting major maintenance on the Eikenhof System from June 30 to July 2, while other maintenance will continue until July 21, affecting the greater West Rand. • Also read: Water alert: Supply to be disrupted in parts of West Rand and Johannesburg from June 30 According to a statement sent to the Roodepoort Record, this essential work will include pipe leak repairs at the Zuikerbosch plant, which is expected to improve the overall efficiency of the system. During the 48-hour maintenance period, pumping will be reduced to 50%, resulting in low water pressure to no water in affected areas. Community members can expect a normal water supply for the first few hours, after which the pressure will drop significantly. Areas affected • Witpoortjie System: Witpoortjie, Groblerspark, Princess, Lindhaven and surrounding areas. The impact on this system is unknown at this stage • Helderkruin System (reservoir and tower): Upper Helderkruin, Wilropark, Roodekrans and surrounding areas. This is a high lying system and will therefore be greatly impacted • Horison Tower: Horison, Ontdekkerspark, Discovery, Horison Park, Honeyhills, Carenvale and surrounding areas. This is a directly fed tower and will therefore be greatly impacted • Constantia Tower: Constantia, parts of Kloofendal, Florida Park and Discovery. This is a directly fed tower and will therefore be greatly impacted • Direct Rand Water feeds: Little Falls, Strubens Valley, Wilgeheuwel, lower Helderkruin and parts of Kloofendal and Discovery. Since this is a direct Rand Water feed, it will be greatly impacted Where to find water tankers: Joburg Water has arranged for an alternative water supply through water tankers and Jojo tankers, which will operate from 07:00 to 22:00 from June 30 to July 2.
