Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet

Report: Nets not expected to prepare Kuminga offer sheet originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area The Brooklyn Nets aren't expected to prepare Jonathan Kuminga an offer sheet this summer. With the Warriors forward set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, there were several rumors that the Nets would make an offer given their salary-cap situation. However, that doesn't appear to be the case. Advertisement 'There is not a current expectation that the Brooklyn Nets are preparing an offer sheet for Kuminga, but there are signs Brooklyn could be willing to use its open cap space as a vehicle to execute multi-team trade scenarios this summer,' The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported. 'That could open up several avenues and possible suitors for Kuminga, one of the market's most intriguing names. The Warriors' front office, with the help of new cap specialist Jon Phelps, showed some creativity last summer, routing Thompson's departure into a six-team sign-and-trade that delivered Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson (after generating the space for De'Anthony Melton).' The 22-year-old has all of the physical talents to become an elite NBA player, but he has struggled with consistency during his tenure with the Warriors. With Golden State committed to building around Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler next season, it doesn't seem likely that Kuminga will fit into those plans. After trading for Butler, Kuminga fell out of the rotation almost entirely, seeing significant game action only after Curry went down with a Grade 1 hamstring strain in the Western Conference Semifinals. Advertisement Given the 22-year-old's contract situation, it's more feasible for a sign-and-trade deal to materialize, and it's possible that Golden State could get some solid players in the exchange. The Warriors selected Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft with the expectation that it would take time for him to develop into an elite-level player. While he has flashed brilliance at times, it's clear that the 'two-timeline' approach owner Joe Lacob envisioned isn't working out. With Curry continuing to play at a high level, it's clear that general manager Mike Dunleavy and the rest of the Golden State front office are looking to acquire more complementary pieces to fill out the roster. Only time will tell if Kuminga fits into those plans or not. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

NBA insider '98 percent sure' Kevin Durant won't return to Phoenix Suns as trade rumors heat up

Kevin Durant's days in Phoenix appear to be numbered as a top NBA insider believes it's nearly certain the 15-time All-Star won't be back with the Suns next season. ESPN's Brian Windhorst said Wednesday that he's almost completely certain KD will be playing basketball elsewhere for the 2025-26 season. Advertisement 'I'm like 98 percent sure he's not going to be a Sun next year,' Windhorst said. 'How it works out, though, I'm about 1 percent sure.' Several reports have surfaced that teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat could pursue Durant during the offseason. However, there are several factors in play: Durant will be 37 when the new season tips off He will be owed $54.7 million this season He will be a free agent following the 2025-26 season 'There's going to be a number of teams interested but some of it is going to depend on whether they see Durant as a player they keep on a one-year contract or if they want to give him a contract extension, which I suspect he's going to want,' Windhorst noted. Advertisement After reaching the Western Conference Semifinals when he was traded to the Suns in 2023, Durant and Phoenix were bounced in the first round in 2023-24 and failed to make the postseason this year. During his 17-year career, Durant has won two championships with the Golden State Warriors, won NBA Finals MVP twice, captured the 2013-14 NBA MVP award, and was voted the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year. Stephen Curry's teammate Brandin Podziemski gets latest injury update after playoff struggles with Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry's teammate Brandin Podziemski gets latest injury update. Image via: Lachlan Cunningham/ GettyImages The Golden State Warriors have recently confirmed that Stephen Curry's teammate, Brandin Podziemski, underwent successful surgery on his left wrist. The team announced that the 22-year-old had a debridement procedure in Los Angeles this week. He is expected to fully recover and return in time for training camp. The surgery, done on Podziemski's shooting hand, may offer clarity on his post-season shooting slump with the Warriors. Brandin Podziemski had successful surgery on his left wrist Brandin Podziemski quietly played through significant discomfort during the Golden State Warriors' postseason run. According to the Warriors' official release, the young guard had successful left wrist debridement surgery and is on track to be ready for the 2025-26 season. 'Brandin Podziemski underwent successful left wrist debridement surgery yesterday in Los Angeles. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp,' the Warriors wrote on X. Orthopedic specialist Dr. Nirav Pandya explained on social media that wrist debridement involves the removal of inflamed or scar tissue within the joint, helping to improve mobility and healing. The timing of this surgery now raises questions about Podziemski's playoff performance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo After shooting a solid 44.5% from the field and 37.2% from three during the regular season, his postseason numbers dropped to 36.4% overall and 32.8% from deep. The shooting dip became more noticeable in the Western Conference Semifinals against Minnesota, where he converted just 9 of 40 shots (22.5%) through the first four games. Despite the struggles, Podziemski still had moments of brilliance, most notably a 28-point performance against Houston in Game 4 of the first round and another 28-point effort in the season-ending loss to the Timberwolves. But the pain may have affected his consistency. In his own words, after his Game 4 outburst, Podziemski reflected on his mindset: "First, you got to tell yourself you belong in the moment. Good and great players want to be in the moment, thrive in the moment, don't back down from it." "Everything I do, I'm never going to have a regretful decision. I'm just going to go out there and know and tell myself I belong, because I do." The Warriors rode a strong finish into the playoffs, with Podziemski part of a revamped starting lineup that included Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Moses Moody, and Jimmy Butler. That unit helped the team finish 48-34, eventually defeating the Rockets in seven games before bowing out to Minnesota. Wolves vs. Thunder Game 5 Betting Odds, Best Bets: Can OKC Close Out WCF?

The Thunder are heavily favored in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals tonight in OKC, where they won Games 1 and 2 by a total of 41 points. The Thunder are heavily favored in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals tonight in OKC, where they won Games 1 and 2 by a total of 41 points. Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Despite two strong performances at home in Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves head to Oklahoma City on Wednesday night in a 3-1 hole that feels insurmountable. The Wolves nearly evened the series on Monday night in Minneapolis, but they came up just short, losing Game 4 128-126 despite shooting 51.2 percent from the floor (43.9 percent from 3). For the third time in four games in this series, Minnesota failed to take care of the basketball, as its 21 turnovers (plus the 19 offensive rebounds it allowed) were too much to overcome on a huge night by the Thunder's big three of MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (40 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists), Jalen Williams (34 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists) and Chet Holmgren (21 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist). To keep this series alive tonight, the Wolves will need another strong offensive performance, and they'll also have to come up with defensive answers for SGA and Williams, who are averaging just under 54 total points per game in this series. At this point, Minnesota coming back from down 3-1 to win this series would mark one of the most shocking comebacks in NBA playoff history. Following a 128-126 shootout in Game 4 just two days ago, it's easy to envision tonight's game getting out of hand for OKC, which routed the banged up Nuggets 125-93 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Timberwolves supporting cast deserves a ton of credit for stepping up in Game 4 on a quiet night by Anthony Edwards, as Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Donte DiVincenzo and Jaden McDaniels combined for 66 points on 13-for-22 3-point shooting. It's hard to see those three shooting the ball that well again in Game 5, though, and even if Edwards goes off, I don't see how Minnesota can keep up with the Thunder for four quarters, especially if OKC is once again able to force a bunch of turnovers. Aside from their Game 3 no-show in Minnesota, the Thunder have been able to consistently score a ton of points on the Wolves (at least 114 in each of Games 1, 2 and 4), and I expect them to once again light up the scoreboard tonight. Timberwolves vs. Thunder Game 5 Best Bets Let's go with the Thunder to not just win, but win big. While Minnesota is a much different team than the Nuggets, Game 5 of this series (like Game 7 of the WCSF) has the feel of one that could get away from the underdogs, which makes OKC a tempting bet to cover a big alt spread. Remember, in addition to their two wins in this series by 15-plus points (114-88 in Game 1, 118-103 in Game 2), the Thunder also beat the Nuggets by 30 twice (149-106 in Game 2, 125-93 in Game 7), and they won multiple games vs. Memphis in the first round by at least 19 points.
