Why Nick Wright believes Knicks beating Celtics would be good thing for NBA

Nick Wright believes that a Knicks playoff series win over the Celtics can change the game. The FS1 pundit made his case during his 'What's Wright' podcast on Thursday, saying that a Celtics loss would be good 'for the health of basketball.' 'It has the potential to be an all-time loss,' Wright said. 'It also has the potential to maybe stem the tide a bit against professional basketball simply being a 3-point shooting contest.' With Nick Wright/YouTube Wright has been a critic of the NBA's recent shift toward 3-pointers and has repeatedly called on the league to change the rules similar to how the MLB has done to reshape the sport in recent seasons. Charles Wenzelberg/New York Post 'Watching 3-point contests is not as good of an entertainment product as the NBA we grew up with,' Wright said. 'Even though the league is deeper than ever, more skilled than ever, in theory, should be better than ever…you might need to be proactive like baseball was against the shift and the pitch clock and all those things.' The Celtics set an NBA playoff record with 45 missed 3-pointers during their Game 1 loss against the Knicks on Monday, shooting 15-for-60 beyond the arc. 'The Boston Celtics breaking every record for 3-point attempts, if they ended up cruising to a championship, then until the rules change, everyone's an idiot for not playing that way,' Wright explained. And I think it will. So yeah, I'll say it. For the health of basketball, it's good if this doesn't work for Boston.' Colin Cowherd signs Nick Wright's podcast away from Fox Sports: Sources

In the continuing trend of top sports media personalities creating their own podcast-centric companies that compete with major networks, Colin Cowherd has signed Nick Wright to bring his podcast from Fox Sports to Cowherd's The Volume, sources briefed on the move said Wednesday. What is particularly interesting about this move is Cowherd and Wright are the two biggest draws on Fox Sports' cable channel, FS1. Both will continue to do their weekday FS1 shows on TV. Advertisement Wright, who has grown in reach with his takes and fervent support of his hometown Kansas City Chiefs, will continue doing his thrice-weekly show 'What's Wright? With Nick Wright.' The show is a family affair as he hosts it with his son, Damonza, but plans to have his wife, Danielle, and two daughters on the program, too. Wright amassed nearly 720,000 views on his YouTube channel after 36 hours for his reaction to the blockbuster NBA trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. In 2021, Cowherd launched The Volume following the success of media personalities, notably Bill Simmons and Dave Portnoy, who have used their brands to create larger media companies. Simmons (The Ringer) and Portnoy (Barstool Sports) sold their companies for hundreds of millions. Portnoy regained ownership with Penn National for $1 after Penn partnered with ESPN for sports gambling. Cowherd's success seems modeled after Simmons and Portnoy as he has used his popularity to help gain more traction with the likes of Shannon Sharpe, an FS1-turned-ESPN personality, NBA star and podcaster Draymond Green and 'FantasyPros,' a fantasy football podcast.
