The Bear to return for another binge in season 4

Unlike Netflix, FX and Hulu aren't totally committed to one release model. Some shows (like the recent hit Paradise) get dropped weekly, some shows all at once. The Bear would probably dominate the summer TV conversation if it was dropped week-to-week, but then, The Bear will probably dominate conversation anyway, so FX is sticking to the binge model for this one. On Tuesday, the network announced that the entire fourth season of the show will drop on Hulu June 25. According to a rather vague synopsis, 'Season four of FX's The Bear finds Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard 'Richie' Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. This season, the pursuit of excellence isn't just about getting better—it's about deciding what's worth holding on to.' That synopsis doesn't give away much (that could easily summarize the third season as well), but we can extrapolate a little anyway. Last season, we left Carmy once again on the brink, with The Bear in financial peril and its continued success hinging on a positive review from The Chicago Tribune. If the team is trying to 'take The Bear to the next level,' we can guess the review was good—and that Sydney decided to stay on, rather than accepting a new position elsewhere. But hey, in the stressful, fast-paced world of The Bear, anything is possible. The fourth season of The Bear was filmed back-to-back with the third. Ayo Edebiri previously revealed that she co-wrote an episode of the upcoming season with co-star Lionel Boyce; prior to breaking out on The Bear, she wrote for shows like Dickinson, Big Mouth, and What We Do In The Shadows. She was also nominated for a Directors Guild of America award for helming The Bear's third season episode 'Napkins.' Mostly, the cast has kept mum about what's coming in the new episodes. As Ebon Moss-Bachrach put it to Rolling Stone, 'I think it will be a very, very exciting, chaotic, cathartic season, and yeah, I guess I'll just leave it there.' More from A.V.
