CAIT, Meta to train 25k women traders with digital skills
New Delhi: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Meta have launched an initiative to equip 25,000 women traders across India with digital skills using the WhatsApp Business first phase of 'Vyaapar Sakhi' will run from June to November 2025, offering in-person training sessions in multiple Indian languages. The initiative aims to help women entrepreneurs build a credible online presence, showcase products, set up automated messages, and run ads on women's wing of CAIT will lead the training, according to a release.'India is home to millions of women-led businesses, and empowering them is not just the right thing to do; it is critical to unleashing our country's vast entrepreneurial potential. 'We believe that giving women across India, especially in tier 2 and tier 3 towns, the right digital skills and knowledge to fully unlock the potential of WhatsApp will not only help them grow their businesses but it will also enable them to better support and benefit their communities,' Shivanth Thukral, Vice President and Head - Public Policy at Meta in India, said.

Vasna trader loses Rs 28L in online stock trading scam
Ahmedabad: A trader from the Vasna area in the city lodged a police complaint on Monday after being defrauded of Rs 28 lakh, allegedly by people posing as representatives of a stock market trading company. The suspects contacted the victim through 55-year-old victim is a labour contractor and resides in Vasna. On January 9, he received a WhatsApp call from a person claiming to be Anita Rivera, an assistant manager from Angel One's Investment Group. She informed the victim that he was selected for their OTC (Over The Counter) investment trader, who had a 20-year-old account with Angel Broking, believed the caller. He was later added to WhatsApp groups named 'Fortune Chaser 18th' and 'VIP 1002', where members discussed share market group administrators advised the trader to fill out a form and share personal details. He was then instructed to download an app called 'Angel Block Pro' using a link provided through trader was encouraged to invest in low-value shares. The app displayed fake profits of over Rs 62 lakh in the trader's portfolio. Trusting the platform, the trader transferred more money in 13 transactions from his account to multiple accounts between Jan 28 and Feb the trader tried to withdraw the money, he was told to invest more. After repeated refusals to return the money, the fraudsters shut down the app he was cheated, the trader contacted the national cyber helpline and filed a complaint with the police. Cybercrime police registered a complaint of breach of trust and cheating under the BNS Act and the Information Technology Act against unidentified suspects.

Meta wins $168 million lawsuit against Israeli spyware firm NSO Group
What Meta said What Israeli spyware firm NSO said Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has won a case against Israeli company NSO Group . According to an AFP report, a U.S. jury has ordered the spyware maker to pay about $168 million in damages. For those unaware, WhatsApp had filed the lawsuit in late 2019 in a federal court in Northern California. The company accused NSO of using its Pegasus software to install spyware on the smartphones of people using jury awarded WhatsApp $444,719 in compensatory damages and $167,254,000 in punitive damages, which are meant to discourage similar actions in the the trial, Meta presented evidence that NSO spent tens of millions of dollars each year on ways to install spyware through messaging apps, browsers, and operating systems, not just through Meta's a blog post, Meta said 'This trial put spyware executives on the stand and exposed exactly how their surveillance-for-hire system -- shrouded in so much secrecy -- operates'"Put simply, NSO's Pegasus works to covertly compromise people's phones with spyware capable of hoovering up information from any app installed on the device," Meta also stated that Pegasus can remotely turn on cameras and microphones on smartphones without users knowing. WhatsApp accused NSO of targeting journalists, lawyers, human rights activists, and others through its platform."Given how much information people access on their devices, including through private end-to-end encrypted apps like WhatsApp, Signal and others, we will continue going after spyware vendors indiscriminately targeting people around the world," Meta said in the blog post."These malicious technologies are a threat to the entire ecosystem and it'll take all of us to defend against it."NSO Group was founded in 2010 by Israelis Shalev Hulio and Omri Lavie and is based in Herzliya, near Tel response to the verdict, NSO vice president for global communication Gil Lainer said: "We will carefully examine the verdict's details and pursue appropriate legal remedies, including further proceedings and an appeal." Senior Warwickshire police officers accused of sending inappropriate messages
Warwickshire Police have suspended three officers and a special constable following allegations they sent inappropriate messages via superintendent, chief inspector and sergeant were suspended on February 10th and 12th, the special constable was suspended in November last year. Warwickshire Police said the suspensions were in connection to an ongoing internal investigation."We expect the highest standards from all our officers, staff and volunteers and where there are concerns or allegations that these aren't being met we will take action," a spokesperson said.
