It's been a painfully long wait since Season 5 ended nearly two years ago. When viewers last saw June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss), she was fleeing the rise of anti-refugee sentiment in Canada after realizing the country was no longer a safe haven. Together with Luke (O.T. Fagbenle), they sought out a cross-country train bound for Vancouver, hoping to reach a boat or plane headed to Hawaii, one of the few American outposts left.
As June boarded the train, police detained Luke on the platform for assaulting a Gilead sympathizer. June and baby Nichole made it on board, but they weren't alone. They encountered Serena (Yvonne Strahovski), who was traveling with her own newborn after fleeing the Wheelers, the Gilead loyalists who had held her and her child captive. With Hannah still trapped in Gilead, June is still on a mission to rescue her daughter before she's forced to live out a handmaid's tale of her own.
'In the final season of The Handmaid's Tale, June's unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead. Luke and Moira join the resistance. Serena tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick faces challenging tests of character,' the synopsis reads. Moss continues to lead the main cast, alongside Strahovski, Fagbenle, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, Sam Jaeger, Ever Carradine, and Josh Charles.
