Little House on the Prairie Cast Adds New Amsterdam Star & More to Netflix Reboot
Netflix has announced the six new actors who will be joining the cast for the upcoming reboot of NBC's classic 1970s Western drama show. Just like the original, the new adaptation will be based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling book series of the same name. 'The reimagining will center around Charles, his wife Caroline and their daughters Laura and Mary as they leave Wisconsin to settle in Independence, KS. There will be Osage characters, as the first season is based on the book Little House on the Prairie,' reads the logline. Jocko Sims (New Amsterdam), Warren Christie (The Watchful Eye), Wren Zhawenim Gotts (Echo), Meegwun Fairbrother (Avatar, The Sticky), Alyssa Wapanatâhk (Peter Pan & Wendy), and Xander Cole (People of the West) have been tapped to star in the Little House on the Prairie reboot. They will be joining previously announced series regulars Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls. Listed below are the official character descriptions for the new cast members: Sims will play Dr. George Tann (Series Regular), who is a generous and kind-hearted man with a charming bedside manner that makes him a connector within the community. Christie will play John Edwards (Series Regular), a Civil War veteran from Tennessee. Edwards is a gregarious and mysterious man who catches the eye of every single woman in the county (maybe some of the married ones, too). Gotts will play Good Eagle (Series Regular), the daughter of Mitchell and White Sun. Good Eagle is wildly imaginative and is known as a storyteller in her family. Fairbrother will play Mitchell (Series Regular), a tender-hearted man who lives in Kansas with his family, where he became a successful farmer and built the most impressive homestead in the county. Wapanatǎhk will play White Sun (Series Regular), who is opinionated, beautiful, and has a sharp sense of humor. At times, she sees the world through a more cynical lens than her husband, Mitchell. Cole will play Little Puma (Recurring Guest Star), White Sun's younger brother. Little Puma is good-hearted but bull-headed and is trying to find his place in the world. He loves his big sister, but also loves getting under her skin. The Little House on the Prairie reboot will be executive produced by showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Vampire Diaries), whose love for the original book series inspired her to become a writer and a filmmaker. The project will also be executive produced by Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Dana Fox, Susanna Fogel, and Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions. The latter's father, former NBC executive Ed Friendly, originally acquired the film and TV rights to Wilder's novel series in 1972. Netflix 'Little House on the Prairie' adds 6 to cast

The show will adapt Laura Ingalls' book series about her family's life in late 19th century America. Jocko Sims will play Dr. George Tann, described as "a kind-hearted man with a charming bedside manner." Warren Christie has been cast as Civil War veteran John Edwards. Wren Zhawenim Gotts plays Good Eagle, while Meegwun Fairbrother and Alyssa Wapanatǎhk play her parents, Mitchell and White Sun, who tend "the most impressive homestead in the county." Xander Cole plays Little Puma, White Sun's brother. The six join previously announced stars Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, Skywalker Hughes and Alice Halsey, who portray the Ingalls family. Netflix first announced plans for the adaptation in January. Rebecca Sonnenshine will serve as showrunner, with Sarah Adina Smith to direct the first episode. Ingalls' books were previously adapted as NBC series that ran for nine seasons from 1974 to 1983. It starred Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert.
