Hailee Steinfeld Walks Down the Aisle to Marry Josh Allen in Gorgeous California Wedding

Hailee Steinfeld was photographed walking down the aisle to marry Josh Allen at their California wedding on Saturday, May 31 The actress wore a classic white strapless gown, veil and opera gloves to tie the knot with the Buffalo Bills quarterback The couple got engaged in a surprise proposal in Malibu, California, in November 2024While Josh Allen is usually the one throwing, this time he's making the ultimate catch! Actress Hailee Steinfeld was photographed walking down the aisle to marry the Buffalo Bills quarterback, 29, at their California wedding on Saturday, May 31. In photos of the nuptials, the bride can be seen wearing a white strapless wedding gown, accessorized with a long tulle veil and opera gloves. She styled her hair in a classic updo. The couple — who were first linked in May 2023 and debuted their relationship on Instagram in July 2024 — announced their engagement back in November. They shared the news via a joint Instagram post at the time, featuring a photo of the NFL player down on one knee in front of the Dickinson star, 28. From the looks of it, Allen went all out for the waterfront proposal, setting up a stunning, rose-adorned arch and dozens of candles. The pair captioned the post with the date of their engagement — Nov. 22 — and added two infinity symbols. Following the news that Allen had popped the question, a source told PEOPLE that the pair's families "were thrilled" that they had taken this next step in their relationship. "They've been head over heels from the start," the insider added. Steinfeld later shared details of the romantic proposal in a cover story for Who What Wear published on Feb. 19. She told the outlet that Allen caught her completely by surprise. When asked if she had any suspicions leading up to the proposal, she replied, "Oh my God, no! You talk to your girlfriends about that, right, where you're like, 'I just don't want to know.' " She said the romantic moment unfolded during a trip to Malibu, Calif., which she described as her "happy place." "It was magical," she said of the proposal. "That's the word." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Steinfeld also praised Allen — who in March signed a new, six-year deal with the Bills worth $330 million — for making sure she was dressed for the occasion. "I'm so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we'll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I'm not looking at being like, 'What was I wearing?' " the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star joked to Who What Wear. In February, Allen and Steinfeld made their red carpet debut as a couple when they stepped out to the 14th Annual NFL Honors in New Orleans. During the ceremony, when Allen was named the league's 2025 Most Valuable Player, the pair shared a sweet kiss before the athlete went up to collect his trophy. In his acceptance speech, Allen gave a little shout-out to Steinfeld, telling her, "You've been my rock, you're my best friend. I would not be standing on the stage if it weren't for you." "We just met as friends," model Arlenis Sosa shares as she thinks back to the summer day in 2021 on Long Island, New York, when she met writer John McCarty at his brother's engagement party. Flash-forward six months later on a trip with mutual friends to Saint Bart's and their relationship took a turn. "From the start of the trip, the spark was undeniable. We were inseparable, waking up early to see each other (which would be a shock to anyone who knows us), taking walks on the beach, making sure to sit next to each other at every meal,' Sosa shares with Who What Wear. 'One evening, we went out on a drive to find the perfect mountain peak to watch the sunset. We settled on a rocky ledge and watched the sun slip into the sea. That's when I really realized I was falling for John.' Though their time together in Saint Bart's was early in the couple's relationship, those around them could sense their special bond. 'One morning at breakfast, one of my friends prophetically remarked, 'Arlenis is going to marry John.' He might've meant it as a joke, but I was already 95% sure he was right.' Three years later in August 2024, Sosa flew from her home in Los Angeles to Rhode Island for a photo shoot. 'Little did I know, later that same day, John took a red-eye to NYC, where he planned to pick up the beautiful emerald engagement ring he had made for me,' Sosa says. But things didn't go as planned. 'When he arrived in New York, he learned that there had been an issue with setting the stone, and the ring wouldn't be finished until the following day. This was a major issue seeing as he had to propose to me that night before I departed Rhode Island on a 6 a.m. flight the following morning. Already running late, he bolted to the closest department store, found a ring that vaguely resembled my dream ring, swiped his card for $24.99, and hit the road.' After a five-hour crawl through rush hour traffic, McCarty arrived in Newport, Rhode Island. Just as Sosa was headed to bed, she received a text from a friend asking her to meet them in her hotel lobby, but when she arrived, she instead found McCarty waiting for her. 'As I walked through the lobby and reached the entrance of the hotel, it felt like an ordinary night. But as soon as I saw him standing at the bottom of those stairs, it became extraordinary,' Sosa shares. 'Everything after that is a flash.' At that moment, Sosa saw McCarty drop to his knee, and they began hugging and kissing. Then, his voice broke through, asking, ''So is that a yes?' 'Of course!' I replied.' Engaged just for a few moments, the couple heard their friend erupt in cheers nearby, rushing over with champagne glasses for the couple. 'I looked down at my ring, excited but surprised. He noticed and whispered in my ear, 'Don't worry; that's not the real one.'' The couple then spent the night celebrating with friends over pizza and champagne. The night the couple was engaged, they began discussing their wedding details, and later decided on Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to celebrate their wedding in February 2025, which fell on Dominican Independence Day. The bride infused details from her Dominican heritage into the celebrations, including everything from local empanadas to Dominican dancers who led the traditional 'Hora Loca.' "We welcomed guests to the first official event, welcome drinks, at La Yola. La Yola is a stunning marina-side restaurant and bar with refreshing tropical cocktails and savory seafood bites." "Guests sported bright sunset colors for this event to match the sky as the day turned to night. Guests were also fully immersed in Dominican culture with dancers, music, and bottles of MamaJuana." "While I was in Paris for my dress fittings and on a walk in the 6th arrondissement, we stopped at the Dries Van Noten boutique and found John the most fantastic pale-yellow suit. Right away I knew John would look so handsome and the color felt so appropriate for the welcome dinner setting at sunset. [My dear friend and stylist Yanuel Garcia Laureano] combined the suit with chocolate-brown espadrilles and an ivory knit T-shirt, which just made John look like such a modern gentleman." "For the welcome dinner, we choose to work with NYC-based brand Attersee. I have had a relationship with the brand since it began back in 2021, and I have always loved their feminine, simple, and tailored aesthetic. My stylist works quite closely with the brand, and we had the idea of extending a vest they had created for their collection in 2024 and making that piece into the dress I wore that first evening." "When it came time to choose what I would wear, I partnered with [Yanuel]. The overarching principle for everything we choose I'd say was 'feminine simplicity.' We both wanted to choose and/or make pieces that invoked a simple yet romantic feeling for both the welcome dinner and the wedding day which were fitted and a combination of custom and ready-to-wear pieces." "For the wedding day itself, John also worked with my dear friend Yanuel. Together, they picked a Ralph Lauren Purple Label men's tuxedo. They wanted to achieve an old-world classic-modern look for John that felt super handsome and appropriate for the occasion." "My jewelry was all custom made by my dear friend Amir who, with his father, has a studio in the heart of the jewelry district in NYC. He was kind enough to make me three custom earrings for the festivities. The most unique are a pair of emerald-cut deep-green emerald stud earrings I wore for the ceremony which matched my beautiful emerald engagement ring." "For beauty and jewelry, we also wanted to extend the feminine, modern, and simple aesthetic. Hair and makeup was done by my dear friends, Makky Pratayot and Hos Hounkpatin. I fully trusted their vision; they did not disappoint." The bride with family and friends on her wedding day. "For the wedding dress, we worked with my dear friend Esteban Cortázar, who was kind enough to work with us in creating a one-of-a-kind dress. We met in New York in 2009, when Esteban had just started as creative director of Ungaro Paris. He chose me to shoot his spring summer resort lookbook. After that big day, our relationship continued, not only on a professional level but also as a beautiful friendship that we have the joy of celebrating today. I called Esteban in November, just three months before the wedding, to have him design my dress. Despite having a super-busy schedule, Esteban, with much love and happiness, accepted." "We began the process with a lunch meeting between the three of us in NYC at the end of 2024, and soon thereafter Esteban sent over some sketches from Paris. Since he is based in Paris, we had to do a lot over the phone and did a few remote fittings during the first weeks of 2025. I finally was lucky enough to be able to take a weeklong trip to Paris, where Esteban and his team literally made the dress on me over three fittings." "I will never forget standing in his studio in Paris wearing the dress as he pinned the corset pleating detail by hand. Standing in front of the mirror, I began to tear up as my dear friend made my dream dress come true before my very eyes! It was such a dream process, and I was so lucky to work not only with such a talented designer such as Esteban but also someone who I consider a dear, dear friend." "The night we got engaged, we started discussing the timeline and decided we wanted to keep our engagement short. We were hoping to be married within six months. Initially, many of the people we talked to with this goal date in mind called it next to impossible, but once we settled on a planner who was open to every idea that came to mind, it made us feel like it was within reach." "After looking at many towns throughout the Dominican Republic, we decided on Punta Cana because of its incredible beaches, luxury hotels, and ease of travel for guests. From there, finding the church, Nuestra Señora de Punta Cana, and the reception venue, Playa Blanca, was a breeze as both are the best in all of Punta Cana. Aligning the availability of these two was a little tricky, but eventually we found the perfect date, Dominican Independence Day." The groom seeing the bride moments before they were married. The couple stand together at the altar. Moments as the couple said "I do." "After the ceremony was completed, we were surrounded by friends and families in front of the church as they burned sparklers in our honor." "We loaded into our classic car and were whisked away to our dreamy beach reception to take our couples portraits before the sun fully set." The couple planned photos on the beach just before sunset. The happy bride and groom. "After we wrapped up photos, we headed back up the beach to grab a drink and make our formal entrance into the reception area." "We opted for a minimalist vibe that enhanced the natural beauty of the location, leaning into the lush greens of the Dominican jungle, a warm beige that resembles the sand of our beaches, and white to symbolize the purity of love we were there to celebrate." "With both the food and music selections, I really wanted to give our guests a taste of my Dominican heritage, and they did not disappoint." "For the welcome dinner as well as the after-party for the wedding day, I also went with simple pieces that Amir was kind enough to make for me, which included emerald-cut diamond studs gifted to me by my husband and diamond tennis bracelets for the after-party." A moment to cheers the newlyweds. The couple with their families. "In addition to Esteban's dress for the church ceremony and dinner, for the after-party which took place on the beach, [I] chose to change back into a longer sheer sequin dress that felt very modern, comfortable, and reflected all the lights around the dance floor." DJ Andrew Sullivan and a beautiful tiered cake at the reception. "From the spicy goat empanadas that my husband couldn't put down to the Dominican dancers who came out for 'Hora Loca' to lead us through different traditional dances to the cigar bar with custom rolled 'Arlenis & John' cigars, it was all perfect." Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh criticises red carpet expectations for actresses - 'they don't model!'

Florence Pugh says it's unfair that actresses are expected to look like models on the red carpet. The 'Thunderbolts*' star has questioned why there is pressure on actresses to "go beyond" their natural talent and be runway models at film premieres and awards shows. In an interview with website Who What Wear, she said: "It's so s***. 'It's not the same thing. It's not the same thing at all. I had this conversation recently with a friend … It's just mental that red carpets are even an expectancy of someone that is not ... That's not even their job .… They don't model. They are good at being on a camera that is this close with that face, and they know how to show how raw their soul is on the flick of a switch. That's their talent. Their talent isn't anything beyond that. "I mean, it might be, but that's what they're getting paid to do, and that's what we recognise them for. "And you're supposed to be able to be like a runway model, and you're compared against runway models.' Florence - who is a diminutive 5'4" - insists modelling is a big contrast to being an actor or actress because of how "exposing" it is as a profession. She explained: "It's so exposing because it's you being beautiful, which is like everybody's inner hell." The 29-year-old star recalled feeling "so self-conscious in the clothes" she was asked to pose in during magazine photoshoots to promote her films. She admitted: "You don't know how it works. You feel so self-conscious in the clothes. You feel like you're not doing them justice. You're not doing what a model is going to be able to do." Florence felt embarrassed when she first began to do photoshoots, but after time, she became more confident, which allowed her to "argue when a certain piece of clothing isn't working". The 'Don't Worry Darling' actress said: "Once you do, you know, shoot after shoot after shoot, you get better, and you get more confidence," she says. "You see the pictures, and you see the work, and you're like, 'Okay, that looks great. I'm going to now make sure that I know how to argue when a certain piece of clothing isn't working ... "If I'm disappointed about how something turned out or looked or if someone's saying something nasty about the dress that I was wearing or if I was a bit too heavy for the dress or a bit too this or that or whatever shit someone wanted to say to me, I have to be like, 'Babe, this is not even why you're… This is not your job.'"

Global Fashion Trends: What's Hot and What's Not This Spring

Spring is in full swing, and with it comes a fresh wave of fashion trends that are redefining wardrobes. This season is all about effortless elegance, bold statements, and a shift towards sustainability. Think flowy draped dresses, oversized accessories, and splashes of vibrant color replacing the neutrals of winter. But as new trends take center stage, some familiar styles are quietly making their exit. Ultra-skinny jeans? Not this year. Loud logo prints? They're fading fast. If you're looking to refresh your wardrobe, now is the perfect time to embrace what's in and leave behind what's not. Here's what you need to know about the hottest (and not-so-hot) trends this spring. What's Hot Draped Dresses and Effortless Silhouettes Image Source: Who What Wear This season is all about movement and ease. Draped dresses are stealing the spotlight with their soft, flowing fabrics that skim the body without feeling restrictive. Whether it's a Grecian-inspired maxi or an asymmetrical midi, these pieces bring an air of effortless elegance. Lightweight materials like chiffon and silk add a dreamy touch which makes them perfect for spring days that shift from warm afternoons to breezy evenings. The beauty of this trend lies in its versatility. A draped dress can be dressed up with bold accessories or kept simple with strappy sandals. Layering also plays a big role. Think sheer wraps, lightweight cardigans, or structured blazers that add contrast without taking away from the relaxed feel. Designers are leaning into soft pleats, ruching, and asymmetry. It's the kind of trend that looks polished without trying too hard. Bohemian Revival Image Source: Wild Rose Boho, Pinterest, Boheme Infinity Boho fashion is making a strong comeback this spring with a more refined and wearable edge. Flowing maxi dresses, crochet tops, and embroidered details are blending comfort with effortless style. The free-spirited vibe of the '70s is still at its core, but this season's take is all about balance. Instead of full-on festival looks, bohemian pieces are being paired with structured blazers, sleek sandals, and delicate jewelry for a modern twist. Earthy tones, soft florals, and lightweight fabrics make this trend perfect for warm days and breezy evenings. Layered necklaces and beaded bags add a touch of personality without overpowering the outfit. Fringe details, lace accents, and billowy sleeves give a relaxed yet polished feel. Petal Pink Takeover Image Source: DHGate Soft, feminine, and effortlessly chic, petal pink is the color making waves this spring. It's the perfect in-between shade, not too bright, not too pale. Designers are embracing it in everything from structured blazers to breezy maxi dresses, proving that pink isn't just for ultra-girly aesthetics. It works beautifully with neutrals like beige and white or adds a playful contrast when paired with deeper hues like navy or olive. Accessories in petal pink are just as popular, with handbags, ballet flats, and even sunglasses taking on the dreamy shade. The beauty of this trend is its versatility. Whether you go for a monochrome moment or just a subtle pop of color, petal pink brings a fresh and modern update to spring wardrobes. Pops of Pistachio Image Source: Clothes Color Guide Spring fashion is leaning into softer, refreshing hues, and pistachio green is leading the way. This subtle shade sits perfectly between pastel and earthy tones, making it a versatile pick for both casual and dressy looks. Whether it's a sleek blazer, a lightweight sweater, or a structured handbag, pops of pistachio add a fresh energy to any outfit. This color pairs effortlessly with neutrals like beige and white but also works with bolder shades like deep navy or burnt orange. A pistachio slip dress layered with a denim jacket gives off an easygoing vibe, while a tailored pistachio suit brings a modern, polished feel. Even small touches like a crossbody bag or a pair of strappy heels in this shade can lift a neutral outfit without being overpowering. With its understated elegance and wearability, pistachio is one of the easiest trends to embrace this season. Bright Colors and Artistic Prints Image Source: Pure Wow This spring, fashion is embracing bold hues and creative designs that bring energy and excitement to every outfit. Bright colors like electric blues, fiery reds, and neon greens are replacing muted tones, making it a season of unapologetic self-expression. Along with these eye-catching colors, artistic prints are having their moment too. Abstract patterns, geometric shapes, and even tie-dye are making their way onto everything from dresses to accessories. The combination of dynamic colors and artistic designs adds a fun, playful vibe to your spring wardrobe. It's all about being bold and adventurous with your fashion choices this season, and the more creative, the better. If you want your outfits to stand out, this trend is definitely for you. Oversized Accessories Image Source: Daily Mail, WWD, Women When it comes to accessories this spring, bigger really is better. Think bold chunky jewelry, oversized sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats that add instant drama to any outfit. This trend is all about making a statement without saying a word. Large, sculptural earrings or thick gold necklaces can completely transform a simple dress or shirt. It's the perfect way to elevate even the most basic outfit. Pair a chunky bracelet with a minimalist blouse or wear bold hoop earrings with a sleek bun for that effortlessly chic look. Hats are also making a comeback, with everything from wide-brimmed sun hats to oversized fedoras helping you channel a bit of vintage glam. What's Not Fast Fashion's Decline Image Source: CNN Fast fashion's days seem to be numbered. Consumers are becoming more aware of the environmental and ethical costs associated with buying cheap, mass-produced clothing. The rise of sustainability in fashion is encouraging people to invest in pieces that are built to last rather than grabbing yet another trendy top that falls apart after a few washes. This shift isn't just about being eco-friendly; it's also about supporting brands that focus on quality, craftsmanship, and ethical production practices. More and more, fashion enthusiasts are opting for well-made garments that transcend fleeting trends and stand the test of time. With the ongoing conversation around sustainability, it's clear that the demand for conscious consumerism is on the rise, and fast fashion is slowly being pushed to the side. Logos Everywhere Image Source: The Collective The days of wearing clothing plastered with oversized logos are slowly fading away. While logos were once the hallmark of luxury and exclusivity, today's fashion scene is moving toward a more understated elegance. Instead of splashing brand names all over, the focus is shifting to quality craftsmanship and timeless designs. Subtlety is making a comeback. Now, it's all about sleek, minimalist pieces that speak for themselves rather than shouting with visible branding. The idea is to invest in high-quality items that last, rather than trendy, logo-heavy pieces that feel a little too much. Fashion is becoming more personal again, with people choosing items based on style and durability rather than the need to flaunt a designer label. Ultra-Skinny Jeans Image Source: InStyle, Refinery, Vogue Ultra-skinny jeans were once the go-to for sleek, figure-hugging style, but this spring, they're being swapped out for more relaxed fits. The constant tightness of super-skinny denim is losing its appeal, especially as fashion moves towards more comfortable and breathable options. While these jeans were great for a polished look, they often lacked the freedom of movement we're craving now. This season, it's all about comfort and versatility, and looser cuts are leading the charge. So, while the ultra-skinny jean might not be completely gone, it's definitely stepping aside to make room for options that prioritize both style and comfort. If you're ready for a change, try swapping them out for a more relaxed style that's effortlessly cool and wearable from day to night. Animal Fur's Fade Image Source: The New York Times Animal fur is definitely on its way out. With increasing awareness about animal rights and sustainability, designers are opting for cruelty-free alternatives that still give the same luxurious look and feel. Faux fur is the hero of this movement, offering warmth and texture without the ethical concerns. Plus, it's more accessible than ever, with high-quality options that mimic the softness and style of real fur. What's great about this shift is how it's encouraging creativity. Designers are experimenting with unique textures and fabrics that push fashion forward while staying eco-conscious. Fur trims on coats, jackets, and accessories are being swapped for chic synthetic alternatives, and the result is just as stylish, if not more so. Cheap, Disposable Accessories Image Source: TradeGala Fast fashion may have made cheap accessories easy to grab, but this trend is starting to fade. People are slowly moving away from plastic jewelry, flimsy handbags, and trendy pieces that barely last the season. Instead, there's a shift toward investing in quality accessories that offer longevity and style. Think of timeless leather bags, durable gold jewelry, and handcrafted scarves that can be passed down or reused for years. These pieces not only add sophistication to your outfit but also promote a more sustainable approach to fashion. With conscious shopping on the rise, it's clear that disposable accessories are no longer the go-to for fashion lovers. So next time you're looking to update your accessories, consider opting for pieces that stand the test of time, are versatile, and make a statement without needing to be replaced every few months. Spring fashion is embracing a mix of bold statements and mindful choices. It's about finding the balance between looking stylish and making sustainable decisions.
