Buc-ee's taps this Florida city for new location. When is Buc-ee's opening in St. Lucie?
ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Buc-ee's submitted a permit application on Feb. 7 to bring the mega-sized Texas gas station chain to Tallahassee.
Buc-ee's opened Florida's first location in February 2021 in St. Augustine, followed by a Daytona Beach location a month later. Since then, an Ocala location has been in the works to become the third location, and Buc-ee's has submitted applications for St. Lucie County, near Fort Pierce and for Tallahassee.
If both applications are approved, that would bring the state Buc-ee's count to five.

Buc-ee's submitted a final site plan for a new location north of Fort Pierce in January.
Over a year of various county approvals, that final site plan is expected to be reviewed by county staff, meaning construction could begin without the need for any more County Commission votes.
St. Lucie County spokesperson Erick Gill said Thursday the internal Development Review Committee is scheduled to begin looking at the plan this week or next. Once approved by staff, Buc-ee's officials have previously said, construction typically takes 12-15 months from start to doors opening.
With that timeline, Buc-ee's opening date on the Treasure Coast could be sometime in 2026.
Buc-ee's proposal is located at the southeast quadrant of the Indrio Road and Interstate 95 interchange, north of Fort Pierce.
The project also includes new roads to help with traffic flow. Instead of entering directly off Indrio Road, a new extension of Koblegard Road would be built with two entrances to the parking lot on the new road.
The site plan shows the Buc-ee's with the following specs:
76,245-square-foot retail store
778 parking spaces
611 standard parking spots
19 disabled-accessible parking spots
10 bus parking spots
120 gas pumps
18 charging spaces for electric vehicles
The Texas-based chain operates locations across Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina.
It's known for its large locations offering products such as home decor, clothing, grilling items, beef jerky, fudge, brisket sandwiches, candied nuts and store-brand snack products. Buc-ee's also is known for its clean bathrooms, cheap gas and car washes.
