As reported by L'Équipe, Wilfried Singo (24) will be allowed to leave AS Monaco this summer. The publication has now revealed the identity of one of his suitors – Atletico Madrid. Monaco open to selling Wilfried Singo

AS Monaco are open to selling Wilfried Singo (24) this summer, according to a report from L'Équipe. It comes as reports suggest that the Principality club have already secured a deal to sign Eric Dier (31). Singo joined Monaco from Torino for €9m and immediately established himself in the starting XI, featuring at centre-back and at right-back. He has been prominent once again this season, playing 32 games in all competitions. However, L'Équipe understands that the Ivory Coast international will be allowed to leave at the end of the current campaign. Advertisement It comes amid an evolution in the Monaco defence. As reported by L'Équipe and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Dier will join Les Monégasques upon the expiry of his contract with Bayern Munich. The Englishman's arrival means that Singo will be allowed to leave after two seasons in the Principality. Selling assets when their value peaks is the model at Moanco and that time has seemingly come for the Ivorian. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Wilfried Singo returns for a Monaco side blighted by absences

Wilfried Singo has been named in AS Monaco's squad to face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, however, Adi Hütter will have to contend with multiple absentees. Monaco have headed to Lisbon having to overturn a one-goal deficit in order to secure their progression in the Champions League. The return of Singo, a key player for the Principality club, is a boost, however, there are a whole raft of absentees that will make an already difficult task significantly tougher. Soungoutou Magassa suffered a facial fracture during the first leg and will be out for several weeks; the same goes for Aleksandr Golovin, suffering from an adductor injury. Moatasem Al-Musrati was shown red during the first leg at the Stade Louis II last Wednesday and is suspended, whilst captain Denis Zakaria and Vanderson are also out for the same reason having picked up yellows. Jordan Teze (quadriceps) and Folarin Balogun (shoulder) are more long-term absentees and will both miss the fixture. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

French sides want to avoid Champions League encounter with PSG

After their 4-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the next phase of the UEFA Champions League. PSG are now guaranteed to face a Ligue 1 side in the play-off round. Both Stade Brestois and AS Monaco lost their final matches of the League Phase, however, both had already confirmed their qualification. One of the two will now face Les Parisiens; both could also face Benfica. It is clear that neither Brest nor Monaco want to face PSG. 'I would find it a bit of a shame [if we were to play PSG],' said Monaco forward Breel Embolo in a mixed zone interview, attended by Get French Football News. 'We want our revenge against Benfica, but if it's Paris, it's Paris; we'll accept it,' he added. The Principality club lost 3-2 to Benfica in a game that was dominated by refereeing controversy, including a highly controversial red card for Wilfried Singo, which changed the course of the match. Brest are also not too keen to play PSG, at least according to Pierre Lees-Melou. 'Oh f*ck!' reacted the Frenchman when he heard Les Ty-Zéfs' potential opponents. 'Let's hope for Benfica. PSG would be rubbish. We already know them, we play them enough. It would be better if it were Benfica. You've brought my mood down there,' joked the Brest midfielder on Canal Plus.
