Purdy shares hilarious revelation about Luke Combs concert

Purdy shares hilarious revelation about Luke Combs concert originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Brock Purdy has no trouble keeping his composure on the football field, but put him on stage with a microphone, and suddenly things get dicey. Advertisement The 49ers quarterback was asked what he thought was the more nerve-wracking situation: avoiding a linebacker or going on stage with American country music singer Luke Combs. 'I'd say being on stage with Luke Combs,' Purdy laughingly said Thursday on 95.7 The Game's 'Willard & Dibs.' 'Man, George [Kittle] and I were up there, and we couldn't hear a thing. I was like, 'How do they go up there and sing? And everyone's singing with you.' So, I was starstruck up there. So definitely that [is more stressful]. Last May, Purdy and some of his teammates appeared on stage at the sold-out show at Levi's Stadium to rock out with one of country music's biggest stars. Given the massive stadium show and the loud crowd, it's no surprise that the San Francisco signal-caller couldn't hear anything, let alone start belting out a song. Advertisement Thankfully, Purdy plays football for a living, so he won't have to worry about singing on pitch or in time. Download and follow the 49ers Talk Podcast

Steve Kerr Reveals Uncomfortable Truth About Warriors Star

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. After the Golden State Warriors swung a blockbuster midseason trade for frustrated six-time All-Star Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, they rocketed into fringe contender status, going 23-8 to close out the regular season and finishing the year with a 48-34 record and the Western Conference's No. 7 seed. Even with an early glute injury to Butler, Golden State survived the best efforts of the more athletic, bigger Houston Rockets in a hotly contested seven-game series. While head coach Steve Kerr knew what he was getting (more or less) out of Curry, Butler, and nine-time All-Defensive Team power forward/center Draymond Green, the same could not be said for the rest of his team. Stephen Curry #30, Draymond Green #23 and Jonathan Kuminga #00 of the Golden State Warriors react against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on February 29, 2024 in New York City. Stephen Curry #30, Draymond Green #23 and Jonathan Kuminga #00 of the Golden State Warriors react against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on February 29, 2024 in New York City. Green may be on the shelf for the Dubs tomorrow. MoreThe biggest question mark heading into the postseason was forward Jonathan Kuminga, who had been demoted to a bench role just before he sprained his ankle in Jan. against the Memphis Grizzlies. When he returned, he continued to play a reserve role for Golden State — until Kerr made him a healthy scratch in the Warriors' regular season finale. Kuminga was a healthy scratch in four of the Warriors' seven playoff games against Houston. During a new interview on 95.7 The Game's "Willard & Dibs," Kerr reflected on the young forward's awkward fit with the franchise. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer. Steve Kerr on confidence in Jonathan Kuminga, reflects on Warriors' playoff run — 95.7 The Game (@957thegame) May 23, 2025 "Obviously, he's a natural scorer. You saw that in the Minnesota series when he got his opportunity. He scored really well. And that's what he's most comfortable doing," Kerr said. "But with our team and the way we're built, with Steph and Jimmy [Butler], they're going to dominate the ball. [So] what we need from that spot is rebounding, passing, the connection, and yes, we need the scoring, but it has to come within the context of what we're really good at and what we're great at over the last two months with Jimmy and Steph." Against the Timberwolves, Kuminga looked like the tantalizing athlete Golden State selected with the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. In that series, Kuminga averaged 20.8 points on .543/.421/.741 shooting splits, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks. During the three games he played against Houston, Kuminga averaged just 6.0 points on .304/.333/.500 shooting splits, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 16.7 minutes per. "You go down a path and you try to get certain habits that are built and you want them to be consistent. So in Year 4, you would hope that those things are coming. And I would say they have been inconsistent," Kerr confessed. "I'm talking about the rebounding front, and taking care of the ball. I've tried to explain this to the fans and to you guys over the course of the years." More Golden State Warriors News: Warriors Star Has Major Surgery Ahead of Critical Offseason Kuminga's fellow former 2021 Warriors lottery draftee, shooting guard Moses Moody, agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million deal with Golden State prior to the start of the 2024-25 season. Though Kuminga may have higher upside, his inconsistent rotation role may doom him to a similar contract as a free agent — be it from the Warriors or elsewhere. "The way the team is built, we got two guys in Jimmy and Steph who are two of the best in the league and they're going to have the ball in their hands. We have two guys in Steph and Draymond who are going to turn the ball over quite a bit," Kerr said. "It's just kind of the nature of their games. So the fit with Jonathan, and I've been very open with him about this as well, the fit is a little tricky when he's a guy who needs the ball and he's a guy who turns the ball over a lot. So you throw all that stuff together and as a coach, you just say, 'Alright, what's the best way for us to win? How does the puzzle fit together?'" Kerr shares latest Kuminga, GP2 Warriors injury updates

Kerr shares latest Kuminga, GP2 Warriors injury updates originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area The Warriors are a little banged up entering the final stretch of the 2024-25 NBA season, but coach Steve Kerr shared a promising update on two key players Wednesday evening. Jonathan Kuminga, who was expected to make a return from a nagging sprained right ankle during Golden State's current five-game road trip, likely won't be back on the court until the team returns home. Kerr explained that while there was no significant setback during Kuminga's recovery process, the injury was more serious than originally believed. 'No setback. The injury itself was more serious than anybody realized,' Kerr shared Wednesday on 95.7 The Game's 'Willard & Dibs.' 'And some of these things you just can't predict. That's one of the things I've learned during my time as coach, working with Rick [Celebrini] and the performance staff. There's no exact recipe for these injuries, and everybody heals differently. 'I think as it turned out, JK's injury was more of a setback than we realized in the beginning. He's working hard, he's working every day. He had a really good workout today. We feel like he's getting close, but you just got to do the right thing and that's what we're all trying to do.' Kuminga sustained the injury during the Warriors' win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 4 when he jumped up to block a shot and rolled his ankle on the way down. He since has missed 28 games and will miss his 29th as the Warriors officially ruled him out of Thursday's contest against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. Golden State returns home for a seven-game homestand starting with the Detroit Pistons on Saturday at Chase Center. Kerr was asked if Kuminga would play against Detroit, to which he quickly responded that he couldn't answer because it would be pure speculation on his end. Kerr did share a positive update to another injured Warrior, Gary Payton II, who missed Tuesday's game against the Knicks after a scary face-to-face collision with LaMelo Ball on Monday night in Charlotte. 'He's doing well,' Kerr said. 'He had a fracture from the collision, and I think he's getting fitted for a mask. I believe we listed him as probable for [Thursday's game]. So that'll be great to get him back. He's been playing really, really well.' The Warriors are in the midst of a resurgence but still have plenty of work to do down the final stretch of the season. But it sounds like reinforcements soon are on the way. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Kerr reveals Steph's revelation about Hield as Warriors teammates

Kerr reveals Steph's revelation about Hield as Warriors teammates originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Steph Curry has played a lot of basketball and been around a lot of greats throughout his 16-year NBA career, but there's something that sticks out about one of his current Warriors teammates. Buddy Hield, whom Golden State acquired this past offseason in a six-team trade that sent Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, has brought an infectious joy to the Warriors' locker room. For that reason alone, he quickly has become one of Curry's favorite teammates. 'Steph told me he's one of his favorite teammates of all time. Buddy is,' Kerr revealed on 95.7 The Game's 'Willard & Dibs.' 'Just the joy that he brings, the laughter, the upbeat nature regardless of how things are going, whether he's making shots or missing shots, he's always in a good mood. And that stuff is crucial in a long season. 'In the locker room, you need guys like that. So everybody loves Buddy. He's just a wonderful, wonderful person.' Hield began his tenure with the Warriors on a hot start, averaging 17.7 points on 49.4-percent shooting from the field and 46.9 percent from 3-point range in 25 minutes through the team's first 12 games, in which they posted a 10-2 record. But his shooting since has cooled down drastically, averaging 10.1 points on 39.1-percent shooting from the field and 33.6 percent from long range in 23 minutes in the 50 games after that impressive start. While his numbers have changed, his high-energy attitude hasn't. And that was crucial for the Warriors, especially when they reached what felt like rock bottom and during a time when a deep playoff run felt nowhere near their vantage point. The Warriors, however, made a blockbuster move at the NBA trade deadline by acquiring Jimmy Butler, and the new-look Warriors since have gone 9-2 and leaped into the Western Conference's No. 6 playoff seed. While a player's impact on the court comes first, a player's influence off of it is just as critical for a team with championship aspirations. That is what Hield has brought to the Bay so far, and his teammates are loving it. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast

Kerr reveals funny way Butler is fitting in with Warriors

Kerr reveals funny way Butler is fitting in with Warriors originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area There's no questioning Jimmy Butler's talent. But when he was looking for a new home before last week's NBA trade deadline, there were concerns about his locker room fit. Golden State acquired the veteran forward in a blockbuster move one day before the deadline, and through two games, it appears to have paid off on the court as the team has gone 2-0 in the Jimmy Butler era. But how are things behind the scenes? 'He's been great,' Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Tuesday on 95.7 The Game's 'Willard & Dibs.' 'He's right in the middle of the card games on the plane with Draymond [Green] and Steph [Curry]. There seems to be a lot of laughter in that locker room. He's a very charismatic guy. It's great timing. He needed a change. He had a great run in Miami and he was ready for something different. And we needed a burst. 'And you can feel that it's a good fit both on the court and in the locker room. He just has a really good energy about him. He's thrilled to be here. The guys are happy he's here. And there's a sense of confidence that he can really help us get to where we want to go.' One report in particular suggested that both Steph Curry and Warriors coach Steve Kerr had concerns about Butler's fit in the Warriors' locker room and that his big personality might not gel with others. It's early, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. In Golden State's comeback win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, Butler's Warriors debut, Butler and Curry combined for 59 points and already have shared several viral moments together. Steph Curry — Jimmy Butler. 😂😂 — Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) February 9, 2025 That's 117 combined points for Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler over the last two games 🔥 — TheWarriorsTalk (@TheWarriorsTalk) February 11, 2025 While both stars have stated they're basically polar opposites, they confidently agreed opposites attract. It's a small sample size, but Butler already has impacted winning for Golden State. In two games, he's averaging 22.5 points on 45.8-percent shooting, with 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in 30 minutes, in which the Warriors are 2-0 in such contests. The Warriors are trying to dig themselves out of the hole they got themselves in to start the season. Butler is and will help with that, both with his play on the hardwood and, of course, one joke at a time off the court. Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast
