William Byrd High School appoints new Principal
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke County School Board has named a new principal of William Byrd High School who will start as of July 1, 2025.
Evan Noell, who is currently the principal of William Byrd Middle School will be taking the position as the high schools principal.
He joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2010 as an instructional assistant at Green Valley Elementary School.
In 2011, Noell was a special education teacher at Northside Middle School then moved to Glenvar Middle School in 2014. He furthered his career in 2017 to Glenvar High School.

He was named the assistant principal at W.E. Cundiff Elementary School in 2019 before becoming principal at WBMS in 2023.
'Evan has been a wonderful principal at WBMS and I'm pleased he will bring his experience to William Byrd High School,' said Dr. Ken Nicely, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools. 'He has a wealth of knowledge and expertise both in the classroom and in administration and I'm confident he will continue the tradition of excellence at WBHS,' Dr. Nicely said.
