MUSC's Healthy Aging Center hosts Senior Expo to promote resources
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Center for Healthy Aging at MUSC will host a Senior Expo, a free event to learn about available resources to seniors, families, and caregivers.
Organizers say exhibitors will offer health education, home care information, free health screenings, senior-focused exercise demonstrations, and important resources for Emergency Preparedness.
Planners are expecting 1,000 attendees with more than 150 exhibitors booked for the event. This event is in partnership with the Trident Area Agency on Aging and the Lowcountry Senior Network.
'Once again, we will welcome seniors, families and caregivers, as well as other members of the community, to this free event to talk with people from more than one hundred senior service-based organizations and learn about the many resources available to them,' said Professor and Chair of MUSC Department of Public Health Sciences Dr. Hermes Florez.
The year's theme is 'Preparing Today for a Healthier, Independent Tomorrow.' Charleston Mayor William Cogswell Jr. will speak to attendees on the event's theme followed by other speakers.
The event begins with an exhibitor breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. and doors will open to the public at 9 a.m. The event will last until 1 p.m.
Attendees can attend the event on Thursday, March 27 at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston.
