Advocates plan community walk for safer streets
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Local advocates will be walking for safer streets here in Memphis on Saturday morning.
The community will be gathering at Overton Park's East Parkway Pavilion for the inaugural Williams Walk from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday.
The memorial and advocacy event is named in honor of William McConnell, a teen who was killed in a pedestrian crash in 2022. The event is happening ahead of what would have been William's 17th Mayor Paul Young is expected to be there to offer opening remarks.
