ERCOT issues winter weather watch
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 44) – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a Winter Weather Watch from February 19th through the 21st. The company says this is due to forecasted extreme cold weather, higher electrical demand, and the potential for lower reserves. Grid conditions are expected to be normal during an ERCOT Weather Watch. ERCOT says it is monitoring weather conditions closely and will deploy all available tools to manage the grid, continuing a reliability-first approach to operations. In anticipation of the extreme cold weather, the company is coordinating preparation efforts with the Texas Energy Reliability Council, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of Emergency Management, and other state agencies, as well as with Market Participants. ERCOT is encouraging everyone to sign up for grid condition notifications through the Texas Advisory and Notification System (TXANS). Texans can also monitor real-time and extended grid conditions at Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
