Local community college prepares for upcoming music festival

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A local music festival is returning to Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) pretty soon. WITCC's student radio station, KWSR 94.3 FM, along with the Mass Communications program and Student Activities, is organizing this year's Witstock Music Festival. The event takes place on April 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at parking lot 1 on the college campus. 'Our department, the Mass Comm(unications) Department and the Audio Engineering Department put this event on with the Student Activities and it's just a big community group effort, so it's really cool,' said Mike Jones, Audio, Video, Broadcasting Instructor at WITCC. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public. People can bring their lawn chairs to enjoy multiple genres of music, including country, hip hop, and rock. The music line-up features: Gee Q Vee Kenny K and the Dead Cowboys Fair to Compare The audio and video engineering students will be overseeing all of the technical aspects and production of Witstock. 'It gives students the opportunity to practice their craft that they've been learning all year long. There's video, they're going to be a big video all this year. And the sound is done by the audio engineering students and they have a great time really doing what they do best,' said Jones. Luke Larson, a WITCC Mass Communications student, will serve as this year's Master of Ceremonies. Western Iowa Tech announces lineup for annual student run music festival

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Western Iowa Tech has announced the line up for their annual student-run music festival. The Witstock Music Festival will be taking place on April 30 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., a release from Western Iowa Tech states. Ribbon cutting for new hotel, restaurant in downtown Sioux City This year's music lineup includes Gee Q Vee, Kenny K and the Dead Cowboys, and this year's headliner, Fair to Compare. Western Iowa Tech chose this lineup to offer a variety of musical genres. This year, the event will be hosted by KWSR, Western Iowa Tech's student radio station. KWSR is a brand-new addition to the college's mass communication department. Students from the Video and Audio Engineering programs will be responsible for all the technical aspects and production of the show. Mass communications student Luke Larson will be serving as the event's Master of Ceremonies.
