Jardine Matheson Holdings names Lincoln Pan as CEO-designate ahead of group managing director John Witt's retirement

[SINGAPORE] Hong Kong-based conglomerate Jardine Matheson Holdings on Thursday (May 29) announced the appointment of Lincoln Pan as chief executive-designate, as group managing director John Witt will retire from the company in late-November. Pan is a partner, co-head of private equity and member of the group executive committee at alternative investment business PAG. He assumes the role of CEO at Jardine Matheson Holdings from Dec 1. He previously served as CEO of Greater China at Willis Towers Watson and in executive roles at Advantage Partners and GE Capital. He also worked at McKinsey & Company. Ben Keswick, executive chairman of the group, said: 'Lincoln's wealth of investment experience in the Asia-Pacific region and track record of working with company boards and management teams makes him extremely well-placed to lead Jardine and to implement our strategy to build bigger, better businesses over the long term.' Witt, 61, has been with the Jardine Matheson Group for more than three decades and has served as group managing director at Jardine Matheson Holdings since 2020. In this role, his key achievements include implementing leadership succession in the group's key portfolio companies and overseeing the simplification of its corporate structure, Keswick said. On Nov 30, Witt will step down from his roles at Jardine Matheson Holdings, DFI Retail, Jardine Cycle & Carriage (JC&C) and Astra; he will also give up his roles as a director and board chairman at JC&C, the investment holding company of the Jardine Matheson Group in South-east Asia. But he will continue as chairman of property group Hongkong Land , which is 53 per cent owned by the Jardine Matheson Group. The counter ended Thursday 2.2 per cent or US$1.00 higher at US$45.60, before the announcement.

Women's agriculture group brings local beef to Colorado schools

EASTERN PLAINS, Colo. (KDVR) — A Colorado farm community is partnering up with several school districts on the Eastern Plains to supply hundreds of pounds of locally sourced beef. The idea started nearly a year ago, and now it's been implemented across four school districts. Organizers plan to expand. Water World closed Sunday ahead of Memorial Day due to weather Local producers have already donated more than 1,700 pounds of beef to Genoa-Hugo, Arriba-Flagler, Limon Public Schools and Karval School District. 'The Eastern Plains Cowbelles are a group of women that came together to make an organization that was dedicated to agriculture and just contributing to a thriving community,' said Leslie Witt, spearhead of the group. 'Keeping all of the things we value about agriculture alive.' Witt said providing locally produced beef to local schools has already shown great promise in the first year. 'Everyone just latched with the idea and really ran with it,' said Witt. 'It's been great. It's a work in progress but we have no doubt we'll make a big impact.' Eastern Plains Cowbelles' initial donations were whole beef animals, but the goal is to start donating a set amount of pounds of ground beef to each school twice a year. 'It's not necessarily a financial money saver to the school districts, but it is a pipeline to directly get the beef donated to school districts from people that the kids and employees of the schools know,' said Witt. 'We could not do this program without the local producers who have believed in our mission and supported us from the beginning. So, they actually donate the beef and we also have donors in local businesses that have covered the processing costs. None of it would be possible without those donations.' So far, the group is made up of 65 members from across 13 counties on the Eastern Plains. Rocky Mountain region sees 3rd best ski season; US industry reports 2nd best season 'All these schools are in the Eastern Plains of Colorado and we all have students or kids or a direct connection to these school districts,' said Witt. As the program continues to grow, Witt hopes to expand the focus to help connect students to the agricultural roots of the community. 'Agriculture is a dying breed and just the hard work ethic and dedication that goes into raising and producing our food,' said Witt. 'The greatest asset to everyone is education and knowing how it comes about and knowing how it's grown and made. Those that do it are assets to all of us.' The Eastern Plains Cowbelles are now working to implement the program in three other districts, including Miami-Yoder, High Plains and Kit Carson. Organizers say if you want to get involved, you don't have to have your own cows, just a passion for agriculture. Their website has more information about becoming a member and more about bringing local beef into local schools. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. MLB betting odds: Is Aaron Judge really already a lock to win AL MVP?

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge opened with 3-to-1 odds to win American League MVP at BetMGM. Those were fairly short odds for a preseason award, but Judge had won two of the last three AL MVP awards. It was justified. About six weeks into a long baseball season, the odds indicate that nobody else has a realistic chance at the award. Judge is playing at a historic level through the first six weeks of the season, and the odds keep jumping as a result. After about a month he was -550 to win (bet $550 to win $100). Then, earlier this week, he was -1000. As of Friday Judge moved again to -1100 to win AL MVP. That's pretty close to being a lock, with nearly five months left in the season. The implied odds of a -1100 favorite winning is 91.7%. That does leave the door open for someone else to win the award, but not by much. The problem with finding anyone else to unseat Judge is that the Yankees outfielder is on a historic run. Judge leads the AL in runs, hits, homers, runs batted in, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS (on-base plus slugging) and WAR (wins above replacement). He's hitting .400 through 37 games. His OPS of 1.241 would be in the top 25 all time for a single season and, excluding Barry Bonds, the highest for a player since Ted Williams in 1957. Even for Judge's standard, what he's doing is hard to believe. He's on pace to smash most of his career highs. The only hope for the other contenders might be that there is a long way to go in the season. Even if the odds indicate there is only one other contender even close to Judge. It's not just that Judge has a big lead already in the AL MVP race, it's that there aren't even multiple players anywhere near him in the odds. The odds at BetMGM indicate that it's already a two-man race for AL MVP, with Judge having a massive lead over Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. Witt is +900 behind Judge. The third player in the odds is Alex Bregman of the Boston Red Sox, and he's 35-to-1. Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is 50-to-1 and everyone else is 66-to-1 or longer. Late in the season, when an MVP race has been practically decided and even an injury wouldn't change it, it's not unusual to see that big of a gap between the favorite, maybe one contender and the rest of the field. It's rare to have that much of a runaway before mid-May. The obvious way the AL MVP race could change dramatically is a long-term injury to Judge, but that's a long shot, too. Judge has been mostly healthy for three of the last four seasons. But that might be what Witt needs, even though he's having a great season too, hitting .325 with five homers and 13 steals. That's a fantastic pace and still nowhere near Judge. It's hard to call an MVP race less than a quarter into the season, but it's hard to find a path for anyone to catch Judge, barring an injury. The odds on some other great players in the AL look tempting. However, it already might be too late to catch the leader.
