Town of Dickinson Supervisor elected President of NY Association of Towns

(WIVT/WBGH) – The Town of Dickison Supervisor is leading an advocacy group that supports towns across the state. Michael Marinaccio was unanimously elected as the next President of the New York Association of Towns. The event took place during the business portion of the Annual Meeting and Training School that was recently held in New York City. Marinaccio has been a member of the Executive and Resolutions Boards for the past 10 years and has served on various committees. 'As President, I will continue to work with the Executive Board, Resolutions Committee and the Executive Director on various issues that impact our towns. I will also work closely with our State Governor and State Legislators in forming a positive working relationship in an effort to bring any issues to the table and work on solutions that will benefit all of our taxpayers and assist our towns in operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. I am very much honored to be selected President of this great Association,' said Marinaccio. Created in 1933, the New York Association of Towns represents over 950 towns and over 9 million residents. Vestal Winterguard hosting ‘Emerald Fire'

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal High School Winterguard will take to the pageantry floor next week for its annual home show. Vestal is hosting 'Emerald Fire' on March 15 at the Vestal High School gymnasium, located at 205 Woodlawn Drive in Vestal. During the competition, students from across the state will showcase their skills using flags, swords, batons, and other equipment to put on an exhilarating performance. Schools in attendance include Binghamton DARE, Corning, Horseheads, Johnstown Amethyst Gold, Laurens, Liverpool, Norwich, Owego, Union-Endicott, West Genesee and more. There will also be a demonstration by Vestal's Indoor Percussion ensemble. Doors open at 2 p.m., with the first guard unit taking the floor at 3. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for kids over five students and seniors. Children under five can attend for free. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
