Haim Kickstarts Its Comeback With A New Charting Single

It's been a while since fans heard anything brand new from Haim. The sister trio stepped out of the spotlight for a bit – as much as one group can while joining Taylor Swift on her The Eras Tour – and taking time to reset, regroup, and get back into the studio. After a lengthy stretch without much new material, the band is officially back, and it didn't take long for the act's latest release to turn into a hit. 'Relationships,' the latest single by Haim, opens on a pair of Billboard rankings this frame, and it earns a top 40 strat on both of them. The cut performs best on the Hot Alternative Songs chart, which ranks the most-consumed alternative-only tracks in the U.S. every week. There, the track launches at No. 17. Just a few rungs below that position, the band also appears on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. On that tally, 'Relationships' begins its time at No. 23. That ranking features the top-performing titles that fall under both the rock and alternative umbrellas, making it slightly more competitive. As 'Relationships' lands at No. 17 on the Hot Alternative Songs chart, Haim scores just its third-ever placement on that tally. Over on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, the act is far more successful. This latest debut marks its sixteenth showing on the list. 'Relationships' marks the first completely new tune from Haim in quite some time. The last track the trio released was 'Home,' which appeared on the Barbie movie soundtrack in 2023. Prior to that, the band shared a one-off single titled 'Lost Track,' which didn't make a major commercial impact. Back in 2021, the group was still promoting its album Women in Music Pt. III with the single 'Gasoline.' That track featured Swift and managed to become another special win for the band, thanks largely to the starpower that the Eras Tour powerhouse brought to the table. As Haim returns to the Billboard charts, one of its members is enjoying a solo surge at the same time. Danielle Haim appears alongside Bon Iver on a new single titled 'If Only I Could Wait,' which also reaches the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The track starts at No. 44 this period. With 'Relationships' now officially charting and a new chapter beginning, it looks like Haim is ready to jump back into full promotional mode. The band's last album, Women in Music Pt. III, dropped in 2020 and was met with critical acclaim. Five years is a long time to wait for a project, but the sisters will surely make the patience exhibited by fans worth it.

Grammy watch: Listen to awards contenders from Chappell Roan, Playboi Carti, Haim, Lil Nas X, Lizzo

New music drops every Friday. Here are some of the noteworthy awards contenders that debuted on or around March 14, 2025. The sister band's first new single in three years puts them back in the awards conversation five years after their last studio album, 2020's Women in Music Pt. III, which was nominated for Album of the Year. To date, Haim have been nominated four times, also including Best New Artist in 2015 and Best Rock Performance for "The Steps" in 2021. They were also nominated for Album of the Year as featured artists on Taylor Swift's Evermore in 2022. They haven't won yet, but their profile may be higher than ever thanks to their side projects. Alana Haim ventured into acting, earning Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for 2021's Licorice Pizza. Meanwhile, Este Haim branched out into composing on projects including Maid, Do Revenge, and Anyone but You. Look for them in rock and/or alternative categories at the very least. He exploded on the scene with "Old Town Road," which won him two Grammys to go along with an Album of the Year nom for his EP 7. Then he released a critically acclaimed, double-platinum studio album, Montero, which was also nominated for Album of the Year. His output since then, however, has failed to catch on. His 2024 single "J Christ" generated controversy, but didn't make a lot of noise on the charts. Nothing he has released since then has even charted. But that didn't stop him from releasing five singles over the course of the last five days: "Dreamboy," "Big Dummy," "Swish," "Right There," and now "Hotbox." He'll need bona fide hits to put him back on the Recording Academy's radar, though. It has been four years since his last top-10. Grammy voters may put a question mark on that title: still bad? Like Lil Nas X, Lizzo is aiming for a comeback, but legal trouble has cast a shadow over her career. In 2023 three former backup dancers sued her for sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, among other offenses. Have fans and industry colleagues forgiven and forgotten? "Still Bad" is her second new song in two weeks, following "Love in Real Life" on Feb. 28. Will either of them match the success of No. 1 blockbuster "Truth Hurts" or Grammy-winning Record of the Year "About Damn Time"? Or has she been well and truly cancelled? The rapper has never won a Grammy despite two nominations as a featured artist and songwriter: Album of the Year in 2022 for Kanye West's Donda and Best Rap Song in 2025 for West and Ty Dolla $ign's "Carnival." He has had other successful collabs since Red, including "Timeless" with The Weeknd, "Fein" with Travis Scott, and "Type Shit" with Future, Metro Boomin, and Scott, all top-10 hits. So expect a strong debut for this solo effort, especially with a whopping 30 tracks to fuel his streaming numbers. Much will depend on how long it sticks around. Chappell Roan has been teasing this song for a while, but she has finally released "The Giver" as a single. It's her first since 2024's "Good Luck, Babe!," which earned Grammy noms for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance to go along with her Album of the Year bid for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The new song is a genre departure for the industry's latest pop queen, so the reigning Best New Artist may just follow Beyoncé and Post Malone into the awards' country categories. Perhaps we'll even get a new album before the eligibility period ends. Haim Re-Creates Nicole Kidman Meme in ‘Relationships' Promo Art

Haim is back with new music and their characteristic sense of humor. The sister trio took to Instagram on Wednesday (March 5) to post a photo in promotion of their upcoming single 'Relationships.' In the snap, Danielle, Este and Alana Haim are seen walking in a parking lot, basking in the sun with huge smiles on their faces. However, Kidman has since debunked the theory surrounding the photo, telling GQ last year, 'That was not me; that was from a film. That wasn't real life. I know that image!' See Haim's post here. The group previously teased 'Relationships' via another social media post, in which the siblings are seen lip-syncing along to the lyrics detailing the woes of a relationship gone sour. 'I hear a voice in my head and it keeps asking/ Why am I in this relationship?/ Baby, how can I explain/ When an innocent mistake turns into 17 days/ F—ing relationships,' they sing over an airy synth melody. Haim's last studio album, Women in Music Pt. III, was released in 2020. It reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and received a Grammy nomination for album of the year. In 2021, Haim was honored with the international group award at the BRITs. Fans can pre-save 'Relationships' here.
