Saturday afternoon after a possible explosive device was discovered in a residence. A metal box with an explosive device was discovered while someone was cleaning up a residence in southwest Calgary Saturday afternoon. At 12:10 p.m. police announced they were evacuating the 1000 block of Woodview Crescent S.W. as a precautionary measure until the box could be contained by its bomb unit. Woodview Crescent S.W. was closed to traffic. Woodview Crescent S.W., June 7, 2025 Police closed off Woodview Crescent in Calgary's southwest Saturday after a possible explosive device was discovered in a residence. (Darren Wright, CTV Calgary) Weaselhead Park incident Police also issued a statement at 11:30 a.m. about a second possible Second World War explosive device they say was discovered by someone using a metal detector in Weaselhead Flats Natural Environment Park in southwest Calgary. Police say the area has been cordoned off until the bomb unit can safely contain the device. There was no word on whether there was any connection between the two incidents. Updates to come.
