Big weekend for Pride celebrations across Waterloo Region and beyond
As we near the midpoint of Pride month, lots of big celebrations have been planned for this weekend.
Pride month is celebrated throughout the month of June with a wide variety of events for all ages.
This weekend, Grand River Pride will be hosting their Street Party along Main Street in Cambridge from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday. The festivities feature 50 vendors, three food trucks, drag performances from local artists and some special guest appearances from Rupaul's Drag Race Canada.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Guelph Pride is holding Pride in the Park at Exhibition Park from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Guelph Pride calls it their 'biggest event of the year' featuring food, games and community organizations.
Over in Woolwich, Woolwich Pride is also holding a celebration on Saturday. They will be gathering in Elmira's Gibson Park from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The afternoon involves drag artists and a performance from Rainbow Chorus as participants are invited to sing, dance and celebrate every colour of the rainbow.
There are many other Pride themed events happening throughout the month of June.
Spectrum, an organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Waterloo Region's LGBTQ2+ community, has a calendar featuring many of the goings-on. They also offer resources for anyone looking for help on their personal journey.
