Michelle Obama skips out on Barack's outing with daughters following divorce rumors

enjoyed a night out in
Los Angeles
on Friday, grabbing dinner with his daughters, Malia and Sasha.
Michelle Obama
was not seen with them.
Obama, 63, kept it casual for the evening, wearing a black jacket, black shirt, and dark gray trousers. The family dined at Hamasaku, a popular sushi spot in West L.A. Obama also wore his wedding ring, even as public chatter continues about the state of his marriage. Michelle, 61, has been absent from several public events in recent months, including the
funeral of former President Jimmy Carter
and the inauguration of
President Donald Trump
.
She has brushed off divorce rumors, explaining that her time away from the spotlight is a personal choice, not a sign of marital trouble. Speaking on Sophia Bush's 'Work In Progress' podcast recently, Michelle shared why she has been stepping back from public life.

"The interesting thing is that when I say 'no,' for the most part, people are like, 'I get it,' and I'm OK," Michelle said, laughing off the rumors.

She went on to say: "And that's the thing that we as women struggle with, disappointing people. So much so that people, they couldn't even fathom that I was making a choice for myself, that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing."

Michelle further pushed back against the speculation by stepping out in Los Angeles on April 17, proudly wearing both her engagement and wedding rings.
Earlier this month, Michelle and Barack were also seen together during a date night in Washington, D.C. The couple dined in a private room at Osteria Mozza, an upscale Italian restaurant.
A fellow diner captured video of the Obamas leaving the restaurant, showing them descending a stairway together.
Barack and Michelle's relationship has been under the public eye since they first met in 1989. The pair married three years later, building a life together alongside their daughters.
