Court museum targeted by vandals in paint attack
A museum has been damaged by vandals who threw yellow paint on its door and exterior walls. The Courthouse Museum on Minster Road in Ripon was targeted on Tuesday afternoon, according to staff at the site. A spokesperson for the museum, which gives visitors a glimpse of courtroom life in the 19th Century, said it was "not quite the renovation we had in mind". "It's frustrating to now be spending time scrubbing walls when we'd much rather be sharing stories, welcoming visitors and running events," they said. The incident was not reported to police, and staff said they had managed to remove the paint themselves. The Courthouse Museum spokesperson added: "We care deeply about this place, and we know lots of you do, too. "We're a small charity and proud to celebrate our city's rich history through our three museums." The three museums include the Courthouse Museum, the Workhouse Museum and the Prison and Police Museum, all in Ripon.
