KUCHING (May 8): Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has lodged a police report against a message being circulated that alleges his involvement in the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway (WP35) project corruption scandal.
In a Facebook post today, Nanta said the message is believed to have been spread initially through a Telegram channel.
'In this regard, I, through my senior private secretary, filed a police report at the Tun HS Lee Police Station yesterday (May 7) to strongly deny these allegations and request the authorities to investigate this matter immediately,' said Nanta.
The Kapit MP assured the relevant authorities that he will fully cooperate in any form to assist with the investigation and leave it entirely to them to take appropriate action against any party responsible for spreading the message.
'I would like to emphasise that slander cannot be a tool to tarnish the reputation of any individual, especially for political gain or personal agenda,' he said.
'The message contains direct accusations against me as the Minister of Works of Malaysia, with allegations that are defamatory, baseless, and malicious. I strongly deny all such allegations.'
He stressed that as a politician and member of the government administration who always upholds the trust and is committed to safeguarding the interests of the people and the country, the allegations not only tarnish his image and integrity, but also the reputation of the Ministry of Works and the Malaysian government.
'More worryingly, the message was not only spread on Telegram, but was also shared on various social media platforms, thus creating negative perceptions and prejudice among the community,' he added. alexander nanta linggi defamation lead Sabah Pan Borneo Highway
