Italy's Massimo Stano breaks men's 35km race walk world record
Italy's Massimo Stano set a new world record in men's 35km race walk during the European Race Walking Team Championships in Podebrady, Czechia, on Sunday. The 33-year-old Stano clocked 2:20:43 to win the gold medal at the World Athletics Race Walking Tour Gold meeting, breaking the previous record by a massive 57 seconds. Stano is a former world champion in 35km race walk. He also won the gold medal in men's 20km race walk at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Spain's Maria Perez regained her 35km race walk title with a world lead of 2:38:59.

Canada's Evan Dunfee sets world record in 35km race walk, laps entire field
Canada's Evan Dunfee set a world record in the men's 35-kilometre event at the World Athletics Race Walking Tour Gold meeting in Dudince, Slovakia. The 34-year-old from Richmond, B.C., clocked a time of two hours 21 minutes 40 seconds at the Dudinska 50 competition on Saturday, breaking the previous mark by seven seconds. Dunfee led from start to finish, lapping all 51 racers. Japan's Kawano Masatora had held the record since October from a Bronze meeting in Takahata, Japan. It's the second record in as many months for Dunfee, who also set the North American mark in the men's 20km on Feb. 16 in Adelaide, Australia (1:17:39). The three-time Olympian won Canada's first-ever Olympic medal in the 50km event with bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
