Representing the nation in a custom-made off-the-shoulder dress that paid tribute to the vibrant and broad flora in Mzansi, Jansen van Rensburg strutted the runway at the prestigious contest which took place recently in India. The beauty queen rocked a stunning champagne dress which featured hand-embroidered work as well as a cape with floral designs. The garment is designed by and created by Juan William Aria, a fashion designer that has made outfits for several beauty queens in SA, including Natasha Vermaak, Byroni Govender, Mia le Roux and Ndavi Nokeri. Image: Instagram/Miss World During her acceptance speech, the 18-year-old shared the inspiration behind the dress and why she chose to incorporate the protea flower in her look. 'Namaste world, Hello India it is an absolute privilege to stand here. I am overwhelmed with joy and I am sure my designer is back home is as well," she said on stage. 'My design is inspired by our national flower which is the protea. Not only does it represent strength but it represents the beauty of people, it represents our diversity as there is so many different types of proteas. 'Inside, you will see some fynbos which is a naturally grown plant in SA which represents humility to me and I think that is a representation of SA. And I wear it with pride and grace,' she said. Jansen van Rensburg added that the flower print is custom-made and locally sourced in our country. Meanwhile, the official Miss World page on Instagram announced Jansen van Rensburg as the winner and congratulated the model. They captioned the post: 'Congratulations to Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg, Miss World South Africa, winner of the World Designer Award-Africa! 'Zoalize took the stage in a breathtaking creation by Juan William Aria, a masterpiece that celebrated the richness of South Africa's natural beauty and cultural soul,' they captioned the post.
