The Castlerea sisters now turn their attention to the upcoming World Boxing's Elite World Championships where they will be hoping to represent Ireland.
The championships take place from September 4 to 14 with the IABA [Irish Athletic Boxing Association] currently in the process of selecting a team.
The recent Elite Championships, which took place in Belfast last month, worked as an aid for the organisation to select the team with both O'Rourke sisters winning in their respective categories. On getting picked for the Worlds, the sisters will be hoping to upgrade their Silvers from last year's championships in Nis, Serbia to Gold.
The championships will be 23-year-old Lisa's third, having won Gold in 2022 in Istanbul, and her older sister Aoife's second World championships.
The sisters also boast a realm of European titles with Lisa picking up Gold in 2022 and 2024 in the U22s while Aoife, 27, has European Games Gold from 2023 as well as European Championship Gold from 2019, 2022 and 2024. 2023 European Games Aoife O'Rourke is declared winner. Pic: ©INPHO/Tom Maher
Last year, saw Lisa O'Rourke pick up silver while she was crowned World Champion in 2022 meanwhile her Olympian sister is the current silver medalist and also has four European gold medals to her name.
Olympian Aoife entered the Paris Games Last 16 stage of the middleweight class last year but was dealt a cruel blow when she suffered a split decision loss against Poland's Elisabetha Wojcik.
With the Polish boxer docked a point and warning continuously for holding, it had looked like Aoife would be victorious and advance to the quarter-final stages.
Unfortunately, despite winning the second round, Aoife lost after her Polish opponent was victorious on four scorecards in the third round.
