Nippon Steel finalizes deal to make U.S. Steel wholly owned

Nippon Steel Corp. said Wednesday it has finalized a deal to make United States Steel Corp. its wholly owned unit after U.S. President Donald Trump reversed his initial opposition and cleared the way for the deal to go ahead.
The move will allow Japan's largest steelmaker, and the world's fourth-largest, further access into the growing U.S. market for high-grade steel but grants a "golden share" to the U.S. government, allowing it to veto important management decisions.
