NTR district sets record with floating yoga on Krishna
VIJAYAWADA: The banks of the Krishna River at Beram Park witnessed a historic spectacle on Wednesday as over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts took part in the 'Water Craft - Floating Yoga' mega event, setting a new world record under the State's Yogandhra initiative. Organised by the NTR District administration under the leadership of NTR District Collector G Lakshmisha, the event featured 1,000 participants performing yoga on 201 watercrafts—ranging from punts and boats to kayaks, jet skis, and lifeboats—while another 1,000 performed asanas on green carpets along the riverbank. World Records Union judge Sharif Hanif certified the event as a world record for the highest number of people performing yoga on floating vessels in a river. He lauded the leadership of Collector Lakshmisha and praised the event as a symbol of unity, innovation, and wellness. The event drew the participation of dignitaries including MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), Special Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary of GAD (Political) Mukesh Kumar Meena, Joint Collector Ilakkia, and VMC Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra.

More than 1,000 take part in Yogandhra programme on Krishna river
More than 1,000 people participated in the 'Yoga on Watercraft (Floating Yoga)' in the Krishna river at Haritha Berm Park in Vijayawada on Wednesday (June 11), as part of the month-long Yogandhra campaign. The event, organised by the NTR district administration, was inaugurated with a ceremonial balloon release. The participants enthusiastically performed yoga on 200 boats, kayaks, punts, speed boats, among others, while around 2,000 participants performed yoga on the river bank. The World Records Union offered a certificate to District Collector G. Lakshmisha for organising a yoga programme with so many people on a varieties of watercraft. The World Records Union judge, Sharif Haneef, said the programme was an example of the district administration and people's dedication to health and fitness as well as environmental protection. He appreciated the officials and people for performing the feat. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), who also took part in the event, congratulated the city's residents on creating a record of sorts. He lauded the citizens for their awareness and enthusiastic participation, noting that any initiative undertaken in Vijayawada tends to succeed due to strong public involvement. Chief guests included Revenue (Excise) Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, Tourism and Culture's Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain and Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner H.M. Dhyanchandra.

1k people to perform yoga on watercraft
Vijayawada: With the aim to set a world record, the NTR district administration has prepared the stage where about 1,000 people will perform yoga asanas following a common yoga protocol on 200 different watercrafts for around 45 minutes in the Krishna River near Berm Park in Vijayawada. The event will be held today. Representatives from the World Records Union will attend the event, which is a first-of-its-kind theme being conducted under the Yogandhra campaign. "Around 200 watercrafts, including punts, speed boats, jet skis, sand boats, lifeboats, and kayaking boats, will be formed in a yoga asana pose across the Krishna River at Berm Park as part of the mega event," NTR istrict collector Dr G Lakshmisha said.
